Welcome to SpaceSimCentral.com
It was a daring move to follow those weak comm signals out this far into space, but you lucked out. You have found SpaceSimCentral, a station that has been tucked away for some time at the edges of our galaxy where only the brave and adventurous travelers dare to go to seek fame and fortune. SpaceSimCentral is one of the last stops before you set off on new adventures in the vastness of deep space. We do get many travelers that tell great tales of merchandise and even things you can get for free if you know where to look. So, finish docking your ship and check-in your valuables and spend some time chatting with the locals on the station and maybe you will discover something you have been waiting a whole lifetime to find.
Enough of the intro, I'm DarkOne the Admin of SpaceSimCentral and we have been around a few years and are striving to become a great source of news, lore and a file repository for your favorite and upcoming space/scifi gaming titles. I have always tried very hard to make SSC a community where both developers and gamers can discuss what they want to see in games and developers can show off what they are working on and get honest feedback from gamers first hand. To all of the developers out there, SSC has always been very accommodating to developers in that we give them free forum space here on SSC to discuss their games with the public. There are quite a few projects going on here at SSC so you might as well join in on the fun as well.
So have fun exploring SSC, the site is going through some major changes and will probably continue to change for the coming months. But this is for the good and I look forward to peoples opinions on what they think and with any luck I can get some members to write up some articles and blogs about their favorite games so I don't have to do all the work. So checkout what SSC has to offer and do register and let us know of any new games or help us out with locating old mods/patches. Enjoy the community and see you in the forums.

Hey, it's again me, unhappy with outdated but still working GeForce 8600M GT. I just installed last pioneer version (20161015-1). My software: Arch Linux, with legacy nVidia driver 340.98-2.
Game seemed to work fine, until sudden freeze (at spaceport, external view), then unfreeze, then freeze again, then unfreeze but being extremely slow (while leaving orbital spaceport), then became nornal again, and after some time became slow permanently (but only in 3d view screen, in other menus/views performance is normal). Twice I got widnow with warning about gl out of memory, the same was still in console:

Today we continue telling you about Faction Wars mechanics and, as we promised, showing some new cool weapons - hope you are ready to test it all and will invent some great strategies once you acquire these modules
As we already said, you can conquer faction systems by building Supply Stations there. Of course, system which belongs to your faction and where you can freely spend your time is a cool thing, but we definitely need something else to make the game more interesting, right? So, we added and will add many other things - we already have some in our roadmap, and this time we are telling you about planet colonization.
At first, let's say a couple words about Сolonization. In Starfall Tactics you are able to establish a colony on each planet, spending a special item which you can acquire from your Mothership in exchange to reputation. There are two types of colonies:
- Supply Factory: provides resources like food and other necessary stuff, which spends on maintaining life in colonies. If there are not enough supplies, people on a planet start dying and colonies become less effective. If there are a lot of resources, population increases and colonies work better.
- Mining Complex: mines valuable resources like ore which can be spent on building Supply Stations and upgrading it to Outposts and Motherships.
- But since each planet has it's own parameters like Temperature, Atmosphere, Life probability and resource availability - some of them produce better, some - worse, and some can't have colonies of certain type at all. It still can be changed if you acquire a special item which terraforms chosen planet, making conditions better within reasonable limits.
Structures like Supply Stations, Outposts and Motherships help you distribute resources from colonies: if there is one on a system, from time to time planets send a certain amount of produced resources to the structure and it distributes to planets which have a need in it or to a building structure. If a planet in need is in other system, structure sends a caravan to it, but it must be connected through other structures, like a chain - otherwise it won't be able to deliver resources. And these caravans can be attacked and robbed, but take care - while players of other faction benefit from it in all ways, players of the same faction will lose reputation. You also can deliver resources manually, receiving reward in IGC and reputation. Aand... reputation system is another thing we will tell you about in future articles
Last time we said that there are some new weapons in development - and today we are ready to present you three of them. And since there are not so much missile weapons in Starfall Tactics, two of them are launchers which differ not only with size and damage, but also with some smaller mechanical nuances.
- Protonic Torpedo Launcher - Launches torpedoes with a great AOE effect. Has a 2x3 size and 2000m radius of rocket explosions which is big enough to cover a swarm of smaller ships. At the same time, you have to use it carefully since it's very easy to hit your allies if you are aiming to the closer targets. In exchange, Protonic Torpedo Launcher has a relatively low damage.
- Melted Avalanche - Assault Rocket Launcher, launching a big amount of rockets at once. Deals sufficient damage, but has a relatively long cooldown. Has a 3x3 size and fits for "bomber" tactics, when you fire once to a target and then move back, waiting for a weapon cooldown. Ships of this type usually don't have a lot of protection, so don't forget about support squad and modules increasing your mobility.
- CQC Laser - Assault laser with average range. Unlike most other lasers, it deals maximum damage only in near distances, making it one of the best choices between lasers for close quarter combat. It has a 3x1 size, which is not very convenient for many ships.
Aside from new weapons, we decided to create another module which refers to special equipment - and it will be a great addition into a number of already existing mines.
Neutron mine is very effective against crew. While having a 2000m explosion radius and an average damage, it allows you to destroy more crew on enemy ships then usual damage does. So, it will have a great synergy with boarding tactics, making enemies suffer from their own ships. Keep in mind, that mines take some time to be installed and can be destroyed - so it needs precise calculations and good movement prediction.

Some what good and bad news as it concerns Space sector the long running blog about 4X/RTS games by Adam Solo, first the good news is that they have decided to make a game, probably the best way to get the game you always wanted.
The bad news is that it looks like the site will be closing as they wish to concentrate on the game, more details about the game and future of the blog can be found in the announcement http://www.spacesect...ctor-announced/
Today we’re thrilled to announce what we’ve been cooking for you over the past three or so years.
Space Sector is currently developing a turn-based space 4X strategy game, and you’re all invited to participate and help make it happen!
The game is called Project Space Sector, for now, and a forum has already been put up to welcome everyone interested in taking part and helping out make this the best game we can.
We’ve just reached pre-alpha. Most of our vision is already established and partially implemented, so we really need some fresh air now. And that’s what the phase that starts now will be all about. The road from pre-alpha to alpha1 will be about collecting feedback and improving the game so it may be in a reasonable state for people to start pre-ordering it, with instant access, in a not too distant future.
And all the best with the game guys.

We talked a few about overload here http://spacesimcentr...ale/#entry59848
i played the pre-alpha demo on steam so i'm making a very early review.
It's a descent type fps, hopefully it seems this kind of space games is returning. Other similar projects are descent underground http://spacesimcentr...underground )
and Geocore http://spacesimcentr...ps/?hl=geocore
The demo is only a pre-alpha version so it's very very poor in every appearance but it looks very promising for me.
The game rum smoothly on my hd6850, graphics effects are good and the same for the sound. Level design it's poor, with deserted corridors but it's only pre-alpha so i think the final version will exibit more complex design.
There isn't a cockpit, again they will do it for sure (a space game without a cockpit?).
What about the game feelings?
Well, after 10 seconds playing it with my joystick i found it just like descent! Very funny, good controls, in my mind i had the same feeling i had with descent when i was a boy.
I'm following this project with a lot of expectations...hope it will be a great success and the begin of descent kind (6DOF) games reborn.
WARSHIFT is the unique mix of the Action, Strategy and Role-playing gameplay elements that forms an innovative game genre. You can build base, manage troops, and then come down to keep your enemy at gunpoint in the dynamic battle and customize your main characters. This unusual gameplay requires a complete change of your play style.
The game is developed just by one person, who is both game designer, artist and programmer in this project. He worked hard for more than 5 years to implement a lot of his and the game community's ideas.

Alright everybody, I have googled more than I would admit looking for a particular type of game. Hoping to pick your brains on if it exists!
I'm hoping to find a sandbox space game where you begin with next to nothing and, through colonization, industry, combat etc, build an empire. Think along the lines of the X3 series but add colonization and planetary interaction.
I'm hoping to start with one ship, land on one planet/asteroid, build a larger ship/colony, small fleet and move on to another planet. Continue until large empire!
Anything out there like that?

And the first October week has come, bringing us snow and some weekly news about Starfall Tactics development. This time we are ready to show not only a new cool module and great faction planets, but also some new stuff for our MMO part of the game, which can be interesting for those who are excited about upcoming content and Faction Wars
We've already shown you two faction planets in previous articles - Earth and Ancora. But there is another one left, belonging to the Eclipse faction - and it's finally here:
Note: This may be not the final look of Odysseus. WIP.
Odysseus, a giant man-made planet for those who value science and richness, Eclipse corporation’s headquarters. Most people take it as a capitalist wonderland, but the truth is always hidden behind the scenes - those of power rule everything and build a world they assume to be perfect, only for their own plans. If you love nature with its green forests, oceans, valleys and wastelands, animals and generally the whole poetical beauty, or you are a matriarchy opponent - Odysseus will look like a version of Hell for you.
Outposts and Supply Stations
As we already mentioned, space in Starfall Tactics is not an empty and silent place, since the War between Eclipse, Vanguard and Deprived factions made it alive in many ways. Pirates, stations, depots, warpgates, colonized planets, Motherships, black markets, huge enemy fleets - and, most likely, this is not the full list of things you will be able to encounter while furrowing the vast of Starfall Tactics universe.
So, here are new structures you couldn't see during previous tests - Outpost and Supply Station. They are basically downgrade structures for Motherships, which won't let you do some things like warping between Motherships, repairing all fleet, finishing Discovery session and so on. That's there comes one of the most important possibilities existing in our Faction Wars system: you can capture a system by building a basic structure there - Supply Station, then upgrade it to an Outpost and Mothership. Basically, it's a way to connect different space regions, make further space expansion possible, give some sort of protection to your colonies, or at least ensure that they have all necessary supplies to live and grow:
- Supply Station - This is a basic structure you can build for capturing a system. This Station collects resources from all planets in its' system and provides it with necessary supplies e.g. food.
- Outpost - Upgraded Supply Station. Provides better supplies distribution, launches NPC guarding fleets into the system and gives vision in this system for all faction members (doesn't depend on whether you explored it or not). Outposts have better protection and it's harder to destroy them.
- Mothership - Structure of the highest grade, the most protected one. Does all things listed above in a better way and has other important functions: allows warping between Motherships, refueling and repairing all fleets, finishing Discovery session, taking all blueprints and modules to your account inventory and selling loot.
This all is important in terms of another Faction Wars mechanic (Colonization and resource distribution) we will tell you about later - well, at least not before we decide how many people should die from hunger on a planet per hour/day...
Cluster Missile is another useful thing to help you destroy swarms of smaller ships. As you could understand from its name, it's a missile which splits into several pieces and can do some area damage with smaller missiles.
At the moment it is presented in the game as a special module, but there is a huge chance that it eventually will become a weapon.
There is also a bunch of new weapons in development which will let you build truly unique builds and new interesting strategies - get more information with new WIP articles!

Space Journey - is an open world Space Simulator; Where you could explore different planets, fly spaceships, land vehicles, robots and more! All of the current scenes are in a sandbox mode, meaning that they might be unfinished and have issues.Current Features: Universal sandbox Mode:
- Try out five different scenes. Whether it is space station, planet, moon, vehicle or procedural generated sandboxes!
- Whether you choose a fighter or a carrier spacecraft, your choice! We currently have five different types of spaceships for you to try.
- Hover-bike & Moon Explorer
Basic AI System & More!
Important: Once again, all of the scenes are currently in a sandbox mode, meaning that they might be unfinished and have some performance issues. For example, our moon terrain represents a portion of the planet, not the whole rounded surface. Although, you could experience our procedural generated planets, where you could fly over and see them built*. Basic AI system means that NPC's that are currently in game has no interaction with a player. Everything is going to get improved within weekly updates. Features to come (Q1-Q2 2017):
- Online Multiplayer
- Aggressive & Passive AI
- AI Trading System
- Quests & Missions
- Procedural Universe
- Steam Achievements
- Mac & Linux Support
- And more!

First, let me congratulate the developers for the huge and beautiful work done so far! I started playing the game a few days ago and I am loving it.
Also here are a few ideas that come to my mind:

Ive been looking for a game, i tried posting about it on /r/tipofmyjoystick, but have gotten no answers.
its a starship game i used to love, it was made around 2007-2010, i dont think it was that famous
after every level we could upgrade our ship, get new weapons, power ups (i think)
and i remember it had "star" in the name, although i could be wrong, but i think it was a sequel, so it had 2 in the end.
thanks for reading
EDIT: it was a top down shooter, and it was pretty linear, like chicken invaders, but it was 3d, and most of the enemies were other space ships and big stations with turrets and stuff

Hey, Commanders! We have some good news for you: starting now you will be able to add capacity to your ship, quickly get information about surroundings in Discovery mode and, as many of you asked, create custom key bindings!
Have you ever dreamt of using WASD for camera controls and making your own pro key bindings? Well, at least according to the feedback we received from you during previous tests, most of you did. And as this feature was identified as a highly required lesser improvement, we decided to implement it before the next test.
Now you will be able to change key bindings the way you like it through the settings menu - for both quick matches and Discovery mode. To do it - simply click on the second column, press a key you want to assign and it's done!
Information boxes in Discovery
Space is usually quite an empty and boring place. However, in Starfall Tactics, galactic-wide conflict made thousands of systems look alive, filled with different objects: some of them are pretty natural while others can be a result of human activity in exploring the unknown and fighting with each other.
To let you get around and understand surroundings better, we added an ability to see information about objects in hexes. By left-clicking on a hex in space you will get a small window with a picture and a short description of all objects inside of it.
If you ever had a ship with a huge engineering bay and lots of weapon bays, you might know that sometimes you don't have enough capacity to fit it the way you like. And this module will help you in resolving this issue - although it's huge enough (3x3), it still can work for you as a life-saving feature adding some capacity to your favourite ship.
At the moment this module is available only through fleet progression in a single copy.
September is almost over and who knows, what is coming in October? Stay tuned and never miss important information about Starfall Tactics development!
Dual Gear is a turn based strategy game combination with action gameplay inspired from classical japanese mech TBS games . Player can command the units with turn based system from the third person action perspective ,develop a pilot, customize their own mechs squad to finish the mission and find the secret parts, weapons and story.
The game is powered by Unreal Engine 4 and still in development. Estimated release date during the Q1 of 2017.
it seemed baby of Front mission and Valkyria Chronicles.
and it have "space battlefield". i guess to it is "low-orbit mission".
it is now have crowd funding campaign.
left 9 day and already reached main goal, however not met $10,000 mod support yet.
I'm deeply impressed by some expansions to the Oolite game, especially the newest EscortDeck and TowBar.
TowBar (for those who don't play it) allows you to salvage and tow a derelic ship into the dock for money. But the author has done it 'overly' well in my opinion by intoducing a complex 'Licensing' system where you 50% of your initial profits are retained for a 'License' and afterwards you need to pay hefty taxes to the governements in place when towing a ship. IMO your profits aren't simply there... But there is also an option to buy a so-called TUG DRONE which will get you paid 50% immediately instead of licenses and taxes.
But does this Tug Drone not make the towing superfluous? What profits can you really make by towing? Is it worth it?
And then I have some technical trouble with the expansion: I get the 1st mission where I have to salvage a Medical Boat in trouble. With my Cobrta I, I get a message like "not enough energy to autotowing" altough my banks are full and operational. Impossible to tow the ship, so how do I proceed? (My mass is ok with 1.6 mass Morray Boat to tow it). Do I need to buy an extra energy unit first ? This would make the mission a negative profit action, because expensive to buy.
Also when using Military Laser, there is no chance ever to transform a ship into a derelic, I will simply destroy it. But with the Beam Laser I feel like a sitting duck ready to be killed in the Oolite Universe, one should not use this I think, the combat part of the game is very unballanced especially for beginning career players that will run in any traps without exit stage
For me, impossible to start the game without editing the save file first to add some credits and a Fuel Injector...
Thanks for any Oolite expert to elaborate this for me - a beginner
