It was a daring move to follow those weak comm signals out this far into space, but you lucked out. You have found SpaceSimCentral, a station that has been tucked away for some time at the edges of our galaxy where only the brave and adventurous travelers dare to go to seek fame and fortune. SpaceSimCentral is one of the last stops before you set off on new adventures in the vastness of deep space. We do get many travelers that tell great tales of merchandise and even things you can get for free if you know where to look. So, finish docking your ship and check-in your valuables and spend some time chatting with the locals on the station and maybe you will discover something you have been waiting a whole lifetime to find.

Enough of the intro, I'm DarkOne the Admin of SpaceSimCentral and we have been around a few years and are striving to become a great source of news, lore and a file repository for your favorite and upcoming space/scifi gaming titles. I have always tried very hard to make SSC a community where both developers and gamers can discuss what they want to see in games and developers can show off what they are working on and get honest feedback from gamers first hand. To all of the developers out there, SSC has always been very accommodating to developers in that we give them free forum space here on SSC to discuss their games with the public. There are quite a few projects going on here at SSC so you might as well join in on the fun as well.

So have fun exploring SSC, the site is going through some major changes and will probably continue to change for the coming months. But this is for the good and I look forward to peoples opinions on what they think and with any luck I can get some members to write up some articles and blogs about their favorite games so I don't have to do all the work. So checkout what SSC has to offer and do register and let us know of any new games or help us out with locating old mods/patches. Enjoy the community and see you in the forums.

Hello to everyone that still enjoys playing this wonderful classic game, several of us at the Emperor of the Fading Suns Steam Group are starting a new PBEM game and are looking for committed players to join, if you are interested please send me an email at bryanjosephmills@gmail.com.

Please remember Emperor Wars is the most advanced Mod out there and the Church, League, and Symbiots are really aggressive but it is a lot of fun.

Background on Reality and Emperor Wars Mod

 

I thought I would provide some background on the Reality and Emperor Wars Mod.

I loved playing EFS back in 1997, and really enjoyed the Nova patch.

In 2012, I rediscovered and first found that someone had created the Reality Mod, which included units from the Emperor of the Fading Suns Books printed by Holistic Design.

It included new units such as the Vorox, Brother Battle, Sanctuary Aeon, etc.

This got me to thinking wouldn't it be great to have a Historical Game map based on the Emperor of the Fading Suns Books "Survey of the Known Worlds"

So, I went to work with the EFS Map Editor making the Historical Map that I also wanted, which includes all of the details and accurate landmarks for each Known World. After weeks and editing I finished Emperor Wars.

Hello to all space pilots,
my mother tongue is not English, I use google translator to try to express myself with all of you here in these lovely forums.

After reading the previous sentence in the game manual. I started trying to modify the game to my liking with the mods I downloaded here.
Found here also an excellent tutorial on how to modify or create a campaign, written by Wdboyd.
My first task was to try to modify the campaign number 2 - Operation Highland with all spacecraft exchanged for other spaceships from Star Wars Saga and change some things in the campaign for balancing issues and different style of play. I'll talk about that later.

After many problems encountered in the campaign, and have found solutions to almost everything I wanted to achieve. had a mission in the game that did not work well, and I thought that was my mistake, because I have changed so many files. But the report file generated by starshater_d.exe gave me the solution to the problem showing me the file with the error.

There are 2 files that prevent the mission from functioning well.

FS_Escort_02.def - if you play with the ship stormhawk.
IS_Escort_02.def - if you play with the ship Falcon.

The error is at the beginning of the file.

"alias: {name: HS, elem: "Harmony"}" - is this line in particular that the error lies.
element "Harmony" does not exist. It's "Harmony Station".
After modifying this element, the mission began to work properly.

But this error is strange, I think he was not present in previous versions of the game, and the proof is in toturial campaign creation, written by Wdboyd, where he talks about these files and the error does not exist there.

The last line don't have the error!!

 

I for "my" campaign, solved the problem, I think this could be easily introduced in mod SS_Reborn.dat

For now I test the campaign number 2 with my changes and everything seems to work fine. I will soon do the same with the campaign number three.

My next post will be to ask for help and advice in the development of ships, I already have many models extracted from another game, and managed to put the models in the game successfully. I just need to know some details about some things.

So yeah, I was pretty much missing in action on these forums recently, in no small part because I was preparing this: http://www.kickstart...factory-wingmen

I think that the rewards are actually some pretty good deal on their own, without the adding benefit of saving an indie studio :-P So let me know what you guys think, and if you could help spread the word around, I'd deeply appreciate it. I think that combining the most popular genre (MOBA) with space sims could help the genre as a whole be more recognized, but of course I'm quite biased on the subject :-P

Ships have been rescaled to improve the graphics during combat,  This helps show of the engines normal mapping.

 

Hyperjumping distance is severely reduced when inside of a debret field,  You can still jump in but getting out will take time.

 

Looting missions within nebulars are now fully enabled, These will provide better than normal tech units for your ship's.

 

A red X is now shown on the map where you last died, This is to aid you in recovering any dropped loot during combat.

 

Cap ships show transparent when in freelook, This is to aid in combat.

 

Another Hud update, Feedback would be appreciated on this.

 

General interface update with a few effects thrown in here and there.

 

Some star systems have been adjusted and items have been moved around a little.

 

Mall has been removed as it served no real purpose.

You begin with a Headquarters capable of producing various units from Astronauts to Terraformers. With these you must capture more buildings and outwit your opponent through a number of game types. Besides the Headquarters, there are two types of building in Moon Rising - Solar Station and the Refinery.
Capturing Solar Stations will give you more power, enabling you to move your units further each turn. The Refinery generates more income with which to produce the aforementioned units. Simple.

Yes, there is a full, single-player campaign. But not only that, there is also a Skirmish mode where you can play games against human or AI opponents on a multi-player map of your choosing.

We have spent a great deal of time in perfecting the Multiplayer aspect of the game. Currently, the Multiplayer lobby is where you'll create and discover new games. It's fully asynchronous and cross-platform, which means that you can take a turn, go and make a cup of tea (or even go on holiday) while your opponent takes his or her turn.

There are 2, 3 and 4 player maps to play and we are currently implementing a permanent ranking system which will gain (or lose) you points each time you complete a map against human opponents.
