Hi everyone, although I was tempted to post this on Horizon thread - and mods if it is better there please move it - I found the livestream video about the horizon expansion focused on the planetary generation very interesting for astronomy geeks (actually more than to gamers).

The actual video starts near minute 8.

Regardless whether people like ED or not, the science behind it is probably unparalleled in gaming.

Wow!  Spectacular video thanks for posting!

I can't believe what Frontier is doing with Elite.  I love the way the features will no longer scale with the planets, to give you a greater sense of how big each planet is.  The terrain they are showing looks amazingly natural.

My favorite thing about Elite has been that it is to scale.  I'm completely flabbergasted by it.  I just finished my PhD in physics, so of course I'm really excited by that kind of stuff.  There are some experiences that just can't be captured in screenshots.  I try not to show it, but it absolutely fills me with intense rage when people denigrate Elite for being to scale.  It's wonderful, enjoy it.  Nowhere else will you get some taste of how big some of the features of this universe actually are!

I have a feeling I'm going to be 100% happy and satisfied to give Frontier more money for Horizons.

Though I agree about the ambition of this game, I have to disagree with your satisfaction and willingness to keep feeding these absolute robbers.

IMO they are just taking us all for utter mugs and the only way to teach them a lesson in how to respect us gamers is "NOT another single penny" to them.

I don't feel in anyway ripped off from Frontier. They made it quite clear that it would cost for each expansion. And honestly they had option to buy into the lifetime expansion when the game was in the initial beta stages. Which I did and for a measly $180 pounds (premium beta), best purchase I have made. let them continue to roll out the expansions.

By the way I played WOW for 5 year and EVE for 4 years at around $11-$15 a month. Now that's a lot of money to play 2 grindy games. Maybe we should ban these, ESO and Guild War 2. Because they are certainly ripping us off and showing no respect for "gamers".

Sorry but the gaming industry need to make money.

Well in a way, yes, I believe the developers of WOW and EVE *are* ripping us off. $15 a month, that's what, $180 a month! Though such things are subjective matter to each gamer! As for such things being banned, well again you will mixed opinions on that too! BTW No need for the pedantic and sarcastic tone neither, if you don't mind. You'll win few arguments with that, and win even less respect.

As for "Sorry but the gaming industry need to make money", well that is just a total nonsense argument, IMO. If this immoral way that "Frontier make money" is actually so OK-dokey, then what about  the illegal drugs trade? What about porn empires and the sex industry? What about arms dealers? Corrupt politicians? After all, they just "need to make money" too! Are they therefore "OK-dokey"?

Personally I would never touch WOW or EVE with a 10-foot faeces covered stick..... same goes for Zynga and Kixeye games on Faecesbook! (Great word is "faeces" )!

I am certainly NOT alone - see the riotous situation regards "E: D Horizons" in the Steam forums right now. I'm afraid it's you that's of the minority opinion methinks.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting this, but if you were willing to pay this "$180 pounds" (do you mean £ or $ there) for the premium beta of E:D and deem it *measly*, well I can only assume you are actually quite a wealthy individual. As a result you've really got no worries regarding profane overpricing, and therefore will be less likely to view such costs as extortionate.

Unfortunately we are not all wealthy - and we value every £ or $ - and we don't take kindly to being milked and treated as absolute mugginses by greedy companies!

PS/ When I bought "E:D" from Steam in July I recall NO warnings the game was "early access", "unfinished", "be subject to VERY costly future updates" etc. Of course maybe I didn't look properly. Or maybe such off-putting info was deliberately held back. For that, "Steam" could also be to blame as much as "Frontier".

Whatever - I am still extremely disatisfied with "Frontier" at the moment and you're not going to so easily convince me otherwise I'm afraid. The game itself is a different story, what little of it is now implemented is of superb quality!

It's another beautiful game destroyed by brutally ugly businessmen and a once proud and respected hero of a programmer who sold his soul in a Faustian pact with such businessmen.

PPS/ Where's his old partner Ian Bell in all this?

How anyone spends their money is up to them.

E:D is game which has divided opinions right down the middle as in for or against but please try to reframe from stating it in every E:D thread.
