Just been looking at some of the vids for the Spectrum Next and I really like the look of the new spectrum although I never owned one back in the day, I had a Amstrad 464 which had the same cpu as the spectrum and so got many of the same games on it. The Next is not an emulator running on a raspberry pie like the recent C64 one but a evolution of the Spectrum. 😎

Looks like they can only be bought through the Kickstarter and their should be another starting soon and I'm very temped to get one, but on the other hand I don't know as I'm happy with using the emulators for the 8 bit games.

I understand this is a retro project and gives you the ability to really be a hands on person with your machine. I have never really used a spectrum before, I know they have emulators out there for this. But I doubt I would pick one of these up until I do a bit more research on this, I have a RaspPi already this does looks interesting but my time is limited and I doubt I would have the time to be nostalgic 🙂

Still looks like there is a lot of configuration and setup needed for the Spectrum Next depending on what you want to do/play.

Very much a British computer of the 80 and I'm really impressed that they have made it a evolution of the original machine which has a backwards compatibility.

Yes, that's what I thought was nice when watching the video on all the gadgets that you can connect to this thing to really emulate how all programs and games were run (via disk, tape, etc..). Don't get me wrong I think this is very cool especially since I have never used one before, I will keep my eye out for this if it hits the USA.
