I've been trying to figure this out for an hour and I feel like an idiot. I accept a job, i set the target for my nav using the shortcut in the dialogue menu, i request launch, I press F4 and then NOTHING HAPPENS, i try to open comms and NOTHING HAPPENS, i try to press every shortcut it has ever been and NOTHING HAPPENS. I'm losing my fudging mind and ready to drop this game out a fudging airlock into the sun. please help.

You might find the answer here https://pioneerspacesim.net/forum/index.php as it's been years since I last played the game but just to eliminate a possible reason, you do have enough fuel to get to the destination and are you playing it on a laptop.

I only recently found out the way to do this. I hope you've found it too. Anyway if there's more of us that have been scratching their heads on this, here's how to do it.

After you've selected your destination you will see the name of it in the reticule, clicking it with right mouse button gives you choices to request landing, flying to vicinity and dock.

If you change your mind, you can do it by clicking the icon in the right corner and select new destination and clicking it with right mouse button and you can select again.

I hope this helps. And yes, the manual should be updated! There is answer in the Flight UI, "The autopilot functions bellow are accessible by right clickin on the name of the target either at the reticule, in the system overview list or on the target directly."

I hope we will get a tutorial mode within a year or two, as it's difficult to communicate changes to players, such as right-click context menu, and most recently, middle mouse for rotating the map (i.e. middle mouse for rotating view in all screens, like F1, F2, F6).
