According to IncGamers site http://www.incgamers.com/2015/03/x-rebirth-free-weekend-update-3-50 the games will be on Steams free weekend along with the release of XR patch update to 3.50 and a permanent Steam price cut.
As the site does not bother to give any source for this and I can't see anything on the official or Steam forums we will just have to wait until next weekend.
Well I already own the rest of the series and I've heard mixed (leaning heavily towards BAD) feedback about XR.
That's the idea behind these demo weekends where you can download a game and play around with it, then decide if you want to buy it.
Does make sense for Egosoft to do it as XR has changed a lot since it's launch.
It's official. http://steamcommunity.com/games/2870/announcements/detail/133193267298626913
And a test of the Linux version.
We also have a Free Weekend running on Steam until the 15th of March for all of our X series games, and the very first Alpha test version of X: Rebirth for Linux is available through Steam Play.
Hmm I might give X:R a try this seekend and see how it plays on my setup and if its good I will buy it and the DLC, not bad for $17 currently.
I hitting play on X:R in my steam cleint, but nothing is downloading. 🙁
Update: Had to restart the client ... it now downloading 🙂
X superbox is 9.99 usd on the humble bundle store but it doesn't contain xrebirth. x3tc is probably the best in the series.
Its oookay. But like most of the X games I've tried feels very much a case of 'chuck you in and hope you can swim' as far as learning the game goes.
