How could they miss that in testing? I’m sure they must have played through the game missions at least once 🙂 Well if you felt like you were the only fighter pilot saving the day, you actually were haha.
It would be great if Deep Shadows would come out with a patch for this game fixing a lot of the usability issues. That is really the only thing preventing me from buying the game is that it is still buggy. Or least put out some tools for people to make their own fixes or mod around the issues in the game.
But on another note those two screenshots look good 🙂
Littorio what is the specs for running the game?
Is it safe to say that specs should be something like this:
– OS = WinXP,Vista,7
– Gfx = Latest gfx drivers and directx9/10 installed (redistributed package)
– Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Because it looks like the last error was WinXP only issue? So is d3dx9_43.dll inside the archive or will it be pulled from it?
You carved out a nice chuck of work for yourself Farcodev 🙂farcodev wrote:0.5: will see the RDS or Research & Development System w/ dynamic and/or static tech trees (need to test the dynamic system before)
To me this seems like it would be the toughest to implement, and of course test and balance these technologies with the rest of the game.
Farcodev how did you make out in the ship models department, were you able to use a lot of the ships/stations Sol Command had?
Welcome to SSC and I was able to download it fine from the download area but there is a problem when extracting the file I see this error:
CRC failed in ‘StarShipSim\CEGUIBase.dll’. File is broken.
If you want to give me the location of the archive that is fully working I can upload it again for you.
Looks like N* is being pushed back until after SotS2 is released? 🙁
Shame, but the 4x fanboys will like this news 🙂
On that world clock click on the ‘Now’ button and observe the born/deaths and abortions. If there wasn’t any abortions births would out pace death 3/1 right now it is only 2/1. Just as I write this post there was 710 births and 305 deaths, hard to believe….
Don’t forget the Pipboy 3000
The problem is the population…
We are supposed to crest 7 billion humans in 2011. Back in 1970 there was only 3-4 billion people.
Of course we cannot feed and shelter them all. Wars will spark over the simple things like food/water and farming lands. 7 Billion people drink a lot of fresh water and consume a lot of fossil fuels. Maybe the world should decide on a family size cap?
Watching this http://www.peterrussell.com/Odds/WorldClock.php makes you think about the world.
What to do?
On a lighter note they did a great job using the Fallout3 engine to make the video. 🙂
Just to let you know that MSoft came out with DX10 and DX10.1 and depending on when the 8800 was made it may not support DX10.1.
Personally Pinback you can build a decent rig for under $800 and maybe less depending how many parts you can salvage from the old machine. AMD has some cheap dual/quad processors for around $100 and 4GB memory you can get for around $125-150, Gfx will run ya from $100-200. And a decent MB for about $100-135. So I sense a new PC in your future 🙂
At the end of the year I will be spec’ing out another machine, the kids complaining they can’t play all the latest games. So now the slowest machine in the house will have a 8800GTS which is still a good card. My current rig will go to the wife which has a single 4890 and I have been thinking about going budget this time but also wanting to get DX11 as well and thought a card like this will be good…

I know I have a few more months yet and I’m sure prices will drop so quality will rise. Was looking to spend around $300 total on the gfx. I wanted to try out crossfire to see if there is any real improvements.
Great find Songbird.
If I remember I will contact the developer and ask if I can host the files here as well. Because even sourceforge deprecates programs after they go stale. This will be added to the game listing.
They have months to plan these releases…. why not release in all countries at once. Personally they would make more money because by the time the other countries get it they have read all the reviews and friends feedback and may decide to not see it.
So has anyone see this yet?
I have a 8800GTS in my second pc and it runs pretty much everything without too much problems. Not sure what you are spending on it. But the 8800’s don’t have the ability to run DX11 and some cannot run DX10.1. So here you can look at some cards that are pretty cheap and are a step above the 8800GTS

Potsmoke who is this rant about? A game site? You didn’t list the offender 🙂
Thanks Tyranuus for the updates on X32i, sorry of course to hear of the set backs in development. But I guess indie development never goes flawlessly. If I can help with something just let me know and hope no one lost any valuable work to any hardware failures.
I thought you were going to have v1.0 released on the day I returned from vacation farcodev 🙂
But great progress with 0.2.1!farcodev wrote:* addition of a colony panel displaying colony’s data + detailed population list and data + CSM events list + installed infrastructures list
Like this attention to the small details.
Will these colony, housing and energy icons be displayed on the topology maps of the surfaces of the planets?
