    Thanks Spelk. I’m trying to make this into a hub where everyone can hopefully find that new game or discuss what they are playing. I know SSC is only 4 months old so I don’t sweat it. It is growing and I just have to depend on word of mouth because I cannot afford proper advertising 🙂

    I consolidated some of the forums a little bit yesterday and I tried to only put the most active or new single player games to the front and the rest are under the general area. Starwraith games are still being worked on and people talk about them so I will make a forum today for this game series and try to move all the posts in there.

    Welcome to SSC Cigaro and glad you like the site it is still somewhat new and I do my best to keep up to date on the latest space sim/rts/action based games coming. I have played the Legends demo and wish I had more time to dedicate to a game but from what I have played it is a solid game and would recommend it to everyone and its amazing the quality of the game in such a small package (50-75mb download) 🙂 Help spread the word about SSC everyone….

This was very popular in Jumpgate Classic so we’re putting it on steroids. Now, instead of just flipping a beacon and that’s it, there’s a Battlestation system built on top of it. So that is a constructed event that comes from an organic experience. I can assure you that players will find interesting ways of interacting and we will be actively encouraging that with reasons for doing those things. I think too many developers see their games as a way of creating some kind of adversarial relationship with players. If a player finds some kind of cool unexpected thing, they kill it off. I never really understood that. If people figure out that flying through caves is cool, then why not build something like a fly-through-the-cave race that happens every two hours or something? If people figure out that by getting 70 heavy fighters together to take out a conflux hive, then add a new map that combines 6 hives together and see if they gather 140 heavies together. In my mind, we should always be chasing the cool.

    This gives me some hope that JGE will have an active community manager that actually creates some fun activities or least tries to keep things interesting.

    There has been a big update that happened to Ascii Sector in the form of v0.5.0, it introduced some new features (like walking around your ship) and some fixes. Go and checkout and download Ascii Sector here: http://www.asciisector.net/download/

    Here is a list of the recent changes:

    – Fixed various other potential game crashing bugs.

    – Time no longer passes when using the Quine or computers.

    – You can now access your Quine while in Combat Mode and while walking around on a ship in space, but you won’t be able to save the game.

    – When you save an ejected pilot and take him/her to a base, you’ll now also receive a random amount of credits (beyond having your standing with the pilot’s faction increased).

    – The Drayman can now carry 1350 units of cargo (2025 with cargo expansion). It can no longer use an afterburner, though.

    – When you jettison cargo, you can now specify precisely how much cargo to dump.

    – The various ships now carry different amounts of jump fuel.

    – Added one new system and base.

    – You can now walk around on your own ship, both while flying in space and landed at a base.

    I have yet to find X3:TC2.0 in stores nevermind the original. I guess I might have to order this one online. Anyone have any comments on the new 2.0 patch?

    They have been doing a nice job on that game and I hope they take there time with it and get it right. I hope more space sim games will add a planetside element to their games. Because after a while everyone wants to get out and stretch their legs. And the 1st person piece is looking good and could attract a totally new set of gamers to space sims with the FPS element. So as long as they make both space and ground combat/questing rewarding this will turn out to be a classic.

    Hi there Chi

    Actually I think Space Sims are starting to make a come back 🙂

    On the download area they are only disabled to non registered users. Once you have registered everything is free to download without restrictions. Only reason why I do this is so people are not leeching my bandwidth by using my links on there site.

    I’ll see what I can do. I might turn on all the links for everyone to see what that does to the bandwidth of the site. Thanks Chi for the input I will look into it.

    People that owned X3TC should be able to update to 2.0 without paying anything extra. Just will be a decent patch download obviously.

    🙂 With all the delays it better be good. I hope the it is decent at the least it will give some people something new to play. But some of the youtube videos I saw were not too promising on the gameplay and graphic detail. I mean a game that has been under development for a while should at the least have the same quality as Tarr Chronicles.

    That’s what I thought. I will give it a go this week sometime and see if I can get it all running on Vista and if the mod works generally I will package it all up and post it for everyone to enjoy. Thanks again s20dan.

    I would have to agree there Pinback. Creature Shock was more like Descent since I believe you were inside a ship with most your missions. And I-War1&2 good mentions but yes Frontier should have been included. But overall it was a nice read and good job putting it all together that had to have taken some time 🙂

    You might be interested in this link if you haven’t found it already. There is some people working on a remake but the progress is slow going but I believe they have some early code you could build it with and play around with it and give feedback and they are looking for some developers 🙂

    Hey Spelk

    If you haven’t already tried the demo do take it for a spin and let us know what you thought of it. There isn’t many SP/MP based space games coming so I would agree that this one will be gladly purchased when the time comes. And you never know it might actually be free?

    I have a lot of interest in this title myself and will keep everyone posted on progress as soon as I learn of it. But to everyone please give your feedback on the demo here in the forums so we can get some feedback on whether it will be addressed or put on the TO DO list. Right now is a great time to give that feedback while they are still plugging away at HW.

    And thanks c0mas on the update concerning updates 🙂

    I wonder that myself since both the X3TC2.0 and X3Gold come out at the same time. Why not just release the gold version and leave it at that worldwide. I mean unless you are a space sim fan you have probably never heard of the X series and it really because of their release practices. I have no real need for the X3Gold I might just get X3TC2.0 and save a few bucks. I haven’t played X series since X2 and I have been hoping they made the combat better. I don’t mind empire building but I like the combat as well 🙂 Combat was too slow for me before.

    Once this leaves Beta I will upload this version and remove 1.4 Beta. Thanks again for the heads up on this. man I need to find more time in my day to actually play and checkout all the tools and mods. I have a hard enough time keeping up to date on the happening in the Space Sim community.

    Guess it is the waiting game now. Been silent on the Heresy War homepage lately. But they are still at work and say they could have something for us soon (1-3months). Wonder if they can sneak us a few new screenshots 🙂

    I will have to try this out when I get the time. There isn’t too many SP mods out there any more and it is a shame. I know MP is fun but sometimes it’s nice to play the story with the game modified or more content added to make it interesting.

    I asked some question on whether it could be used with Terran Conflict and haven’t got a reply yet. I would probably have to go and buy the X3 gold package if it isn’t because no sense in buying the original Reunion when Terran Conflict 2.0 is coming out in a few days.
