To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

If ever a game deserved a modern day remake, it's this one. I'd love to see this with the Unreal 4.

Not played it in about 20 years but I remember it being pretty good game apart from the ending, oh yes would like to see a modern remake of the game.

Maybe if the mod tools for cyberpunk allow for creative freedom that someone could in some sorts recreate something similar. But I agree there is a lot of games that would do great today with a simple gfx update.

I actually gave this game a whirl a couple years ago using wine. About the same time, a team over at scummVM started building a plugin to run bladerunner. The graphics aren't really that bad if you're into adventure games, and using filtered upscaling would probably be enough.

Looks like Blade Runner is getting the remake treatment and it supposed to release this year:

Originally released in 1997 by Westwood Studios, Blade Runner was one of the most innovative adventure games of its era. Long praised as a master-class in game design for its painstaking recreation of the sci-fi cinematic masterpiece, the game delivered an unforgettable gaming experience with groundbreaking graphics, an original musical score, and a canonical branching narrative seamlessly interwoven with the events of Ridley Scott’s 1982 feature film.

Once lost for years and only recently coming out of retirement, this seminal game will soon become widely available to a whole new generation of gamers around the world. Fans of the cult classic can expect a polished and premium restoration from Nightdive using their proprietary KEX game engine, which has been used to restore classic video games across all digital platforms including System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood, and Forsaken Remastered. Nightdive has also sourced the original foreign-language translations, so fans can enjoy the game in German, French, Italian, and Chinese just as Westwood intended.

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will feature updated character models and animations, upscaled cutscenes using machine learning algorithms, widescreen resolution support, keyboard and controller customization, and much more. However, fans will be pleased to learn that the original look and feel of the game is being preserved.

I actually am looking forward to this one, I hope they can really improve the visuals and keep the gameplay like it was. Like I stated previously I never got to play this one so I hope they do it justice, there is a lot of older games that could be great again with a slight visual/technical upgrade.

Nice, read that it's coming to the console as well and I hope they do a physical release as well on the consoles.

I read some where the game has been delayed until next year now.

Forgot all about this, not something I will rush out and buy but will keep an eye on it and pick it up in the sales at some point.

This version of the game is getting a kicking in the Steam reviews, it's got so bad that they have now included the classic version of the game in the bundle.

ooooh that sucks... how can you really mess up a re-texture and re-scaling or models/cutscenes.... (which Is what I thought this was) I hope they didn't change the game much .... I will need to search for some reviews on this sometime soon.
