To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Thought I'd start a thread for this as I got no search results and haven't heard it mentioned here before.
Space Station 13 is a RP multiplayer game set on a spacestation.
You can choose to be a normal crew member and carry out your duties like being a surgeon or a security officer. Or you can also choose to be a baddie. Like a changeling or a traitor.
As a bad guy you have specific missions to try and achieve. That may be killing a particular guy on the station.
The thing that makes it so much fun is that you can pretty much do anything. Its entirely possible to be killed, have your dna scanned and have a clone of you made. You can sabotage a medbot so it goes around "healing" people by injecting them with acid. Medics can take you to surgery and chop off your limbs and replace them with bionic ones.
It does rely on role play, but there seems to be good admin presence to limit trolling and griefing.
Its a pretty old game, and the UI is not intuitive to say the least. It suffers from server lag some of the time, apparently due to the engine or something. In fact the game takes some hours to start to even figure out how to interact with the world.
Nevertheless, its huge fun because of the amount of freedom the game allows players.
This vid is a good one for an overview of how it works
If you google Byond you can get the client program and access the game from that. Well worth checking out and if you find it too hard then there's a remake on the way too.
Interesting looking game, like the idea of being a traitor in it.
