To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

A rather hefty Starflight I Playthrough, from "The CRPG Addict". Interesting read and you can find it here:

Too bad he used the PC version, and not the Amiga one.

Thats great... I have never really played starflight.

Is it much better than Star Control 2? As thats the only game similar to this that I have really spent any time with.

I actually have a copy of this on my wii (wiidosbox)but have never gotten round to playing it, as I was playing through starcnotrol 2.

You 'll better play the Amiga version. It's much prettier and with mouse support.

They are some what simlar as they are both space exploration games.

I would say that the Megadrive version is best lookng version of Starflight.

Not sure how well it plays to the others.

Thanks, I might try the megadrive one. From the wiki:

Quote:
Starflight was ported and re-released for the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991. Aside from graphical upgrades, there are very few changes to the overall game. In addition to modifications made to the ship itself, several upgrades can be purchased for the Terrain Vehicle — renamed "TV" — including pontoons and snow treads (for transport over water and snow, respectively). The Shimmering Ball, an artifact which doubled as a cloaking device in the original DOS version, has no such ability in the remake but in fact autoscans alien ships when encountered. The option to name newly-discovered planets was also removed.

The only feature removed it would seem is the ability to rename planets.
