Issues with careers

So I just got around to trying the alpha, and that was quite a buggy experience. I noticed now that the game has gone into beta, and I thought I'd see if things work more smoothly.

Upon starting the new game, I must say the construction menu looks a lot prettier and easier to navigate, except for the building categories (civilan, energy etc), that could stand some improvement still. Other than that, the previous issues seem to be gone.

My big issue however was after building colony outpost too early, depleting my resources. Couldn't find any way to rescue the situation, so I thought I'd restart on a new map. Except when I did that, the resources (or lack thereof) carried over from the previous game. So I thought quitting the game would resolve that, but it didn't. I then deleted the game and unpacked it again, only to find the resource state was STILL saved from that first game!

So, I found the "Delete career" option, but that seems to be merely place holder art, as it did nothing to resolve the issue. Finally, after some searching, I found "Moonbase.db.db" in "UsersusernameAppDataLocalLowColonisation MoonbaseColonisation Moonbase Alpha0_1_7b" and deleted that, and that removed the saved state.

If there's an easier way to restart a career, I'd sure like to know. In case anyone else has the same trouble, I hope this helps!

Actually, after having played for a bit more, I find that no matter what I build, resources get depleted within seconds! The construction building will begin a small production (so far so good), but then when I try to up my energy with solar panels, my O2 depletes at over 30/sec, and the solar panel doesn't add any additional energy to the resource pool. So I demolish the solar panel, find that the O2 slowly starts coming back up, but that the energy is now depleting at -2! So apparently, demolishing the solar panel will subtract the energy it never produced, and even drain energy! In another game (after repeating above described procedure), I built a water mining outpost, finding it depleted my energy by 100/sec, even when deactivated.

Hope you can squash these bugs soon, thanks!

I agree something is definitely afoot with the resource allocation in the early game, I think there is a building which is incorrectly draining the resource pool under a given set of circumstances.

perhaps copies of our moonbase.db.db files would help diagnose the issue ?

The delete career option should work, you are correct the save file is located in the user folder, deleting this will force the game to replace it with a fresh standard version, but this should be true with the reset career mode.

Navigate to the delete career menu, press all 3 buttons in order then the reset account on the left to reset the game.

The issue with the resources is very odd as I have not experienced this issue, I have a game save provided by someone who submitted a bug with the end effect of the issue, for some unknown reason minus everything even with no buildings left, this did not occur in an unbuilt version and only the released version, I may have tracked down the issue on this as it seems to be related to a lot of other issues that have cropped up.

If you need any testing to specific areas just ask, I quite enjoy testing methodically and changing building placement for optimum resources.
