Hi everyone,

 

It's been a while since my last space-sim/strategy game Moon Tycoon in 2000 and after almost a year of development a new game is almost complete. Earth Space Colonies is on Steam Greenlight right now:  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=600249001

 

Earth Space Colonies is a strategy-simulation game where you build space colonies around the Solar system. The first destination is Mars. Establish a first self-sustaining colony and terraform a red wasteland into a green oasis. Balance your resources and expand the infrastructure. Build anything from high-tech factories, hotels, military bases to space elevators and terraformers. Colonize other worlds as well: defend a mining colony on a dwarf planet Ceres and explore the subsurface ocean on Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon.

Congrats on the Greenlit on Steam Kazkirishima!

From what I have seen so far on Steam your progress looks great thus far and will be interested in how you implement the whole science around terraforming. Would like to see your plans for the actual terraforming and how you will be implementing it? meaning like making that whole process simplistic in nature or catering to the inner geek and really putting great concepts and risks into the gameplay to make it a tough process which would be the case in real world 🙂

For the sake of gameplay terraforming time is accelerated to days instead of hundreds of years 🙂 but still it's not an easy thing to do. First, player must survive long enough to build scientific infrastructure to even start researching potential terraforming tech. After you a build terraforming hub, a real terraforming process can commence. There are five specific phases that will slowly transform Mars to a green planet. And than in the end grass will finally start to grow slowly and then more and more plant life will start to grow. It will take a while before you have your first forest.

How has the early access been going?

Looks like it is being received well and that you are working on some new updates:

 

 

Just a quick update regarding game development. We are very busy implementing a whole bunch of new improvements based on a recent community feedback. Including a new user interface skin and a flying maintenance drone that will aid engineers in repairing buildings. Most of our work right now is focused on a two new colonies: Ceres in a the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon. Ceres will be a combat oriented campaign and will feature deployment of a defence system to repel ground and space attacks against a mining colony. Ganymede campaign will feature an exploration of the subsurface ocean. We are also working on a sandbox mode for all three maps.

In order to release a new update we have to finish both new maps. To work properly, a game mechanics now require managing all three worlds at the same time. We are working day and night to bring you a new update as soon as possible. Please stay tuned for a new development updates!

Just a quick update that a new major update is available:

 

Major update available v0.90!

A new major update is now available! Now you can play three story campaigns all at once. Survive an unexpected conflict on Ceres and unravel a mystery on Ganymede. You can switch between three storylines at any moment. Make a colony life easier trough trading items between worlds. Ceres and Ganymede colonies now have a unique set of buildings and units.

Combat layer is now part of campaigns. Construct various defense structures to protect your colonies. Build railgun, missile and laser turrets, military bases, combat drones and train troops. 

Now you can pause and adjust the game speed. 

A better in-game options screen now has many additional options to adjust your video settings and change resolution without quitting the game. 

New set of achievements is also available. 

If you minimize the game or run it in a window mode, game can now properly run in background. 

Now that all three story campaigns are set up we will be able to release future updates more frequently, adding new features and fixing bugs. Some of new features in upcoming updates will include: 

A brand new AI pathfinding for astronauts 

Manual turret control 

First person mode 

Combat survival missions

A quick round of news that after five months of Early Access, v1.0 of space sim-strategy game Earth Space Colonies is now available on Steam! Earth Space Colonies is a strategy-simulation space colony builder. One of key features is multi-story campaign mode where player can play three story based campaigns all at the same time. Terraform Mars, mine and defend Ceres and unravel the mystery of Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon. Combat survival mode on Saturn’s moon Titan is also a new addition to now fully released game.

For those people that hasn't checked out this game yet you really should it has good reviews and being updated (1.1 patch update notes below):

 

 

- Auto-building mode is now available on all buildings that are producing construction materials. Just flip the switch and the building will automatically produce all materials until the storage is full.

- Habitats are no longer producing construction materials. All materials previously produced by habitats are now available in the Workshop

- Materials required to train or craft will also appear when you click on the green arrow.

- Build area on Mars is slightly expanded to more closely match with the edge of background mountains

- Paver construction material is renamed to Pavement

- Modular habitat upgrade crafting requirements are reduced

- Storage building capacity is increased to 250 units

- When you demolish the building, previously used construction materials are reclaimed.

- Ganymede excavator unit description now includes materials that excavators can extract.

- Notification icon will appear when your storage is full.

- Messages will no longer repeat when you terraform Mars.

- Fast-forwarding the game will mute voice messages.

- Building rotation is now properly saved.

- Tweeks to engineer’s pathfinding.

- A different color for the temperature needle in the mine.
