To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

All backer should have recived this email with some ingame pics 😎
Michael here with a sneak peek for you all. We know everyone is eager to see in-game shots for Elite: Dangerous and we're working on something pretty cool, which isn't quite ready yet. However we do have some in-progress screens for you to look at. These will be going up on our new technology page soon, but we wanted you all to see them first.
I'm sure many of you will recognise the location!
These are all in game screen shots, although the last image has had some very minor tweaks to pass along to the modellers for their next round of improvements.
These screenshots look really good, i would hope this is gameplay and not cutscenes 🙂
The two quote are from the email that came with the pictures so I would expect them to be from the game itself.
Will be nice to see some video of it.
I think a new computer will be in my future hopefully, because the visuals on these new games that are coming are great and my 4yr old PC will not get the job done I don't think.
That 3rd shot is very impressive, that lighting around the explosion is nice.
Yes these look great! I hope my gtx 560 will be enough, but probably not :/
Unlike Star Citizen where you will need some high end PC with a Titan installed to get all the features Elite will not be as 'Poly' heavy.
As quoted my Michael Brookes:
Direct X 11
Quad Core CPU ( 4 x 2Ghz is a reasonable minimum)
2 GB System Ram (more is always better)
DX 10 hardware GPU (my reasonably low end machine has a GTX 285 with 2GB)
Are the Alpha specs required.
As with most games Alpha normally require more than is needed as it has not been polished and optimised.

Are they the minimum specs?.
They are the suggested minimum specs for Alpha testing, yes - hopefully, the Beta/Gamma/Release versions will be lower.
They were insistent on the quad-core requirement though.
Yep, spot on guys. The dev team hope that with more optimisations in the beta & gamma stages, that the minimums will fall even further.

my 5 yr old Core 2 Quad 2.8ghz w/ GTX 780 handled the Alpha Just Fine ...
