So, I haven't found any servers for general people to play on. If anybody has a server that other people can join, feel free to post it and I'll try and add it to the list. I would suggest requiring Skype or something similar for co-op servers. I'm going to be starting up a dedicated server soon (I will try, atleast) but I'd like to see if anybody else has that same idea.
Some basic server rules & tips:
- Use your forum name for your IGN, that will make it easier to identify people.
- Notify people somehow before you're going to dogfight them - don't grief.
- Don't relog to get more missiles - well, that one's iffy.
- You can talk using 'Enter'.
- If you want a map change, you can ask for a server restart (at least on my server)
- A server might not always have someone on, or be up 24/7, so don't be stupid.
- Try not to curse in chat.

Have a server or just want to dogfight with someone? Post a server!
Thanks for doing this Michionlion. I've been talking to a few people who have offered to host more permanent servers, I've just been waiting for the server to mature a little bit before I sent it to them, as right now the multiplayer is still being heavily developed. But a list of servers is a good idea, I might recommend G+ over skype as that's a bit better for organizing hangouts with people you don't actually know.
I had thought about having an only human server, but... I'm poor. I don't know if I could support that right now. We'll see, I might fire up a netbook sometime that I wouldn't mind leaving on all the time.
Yeah, that's basically what I'll be doing, at least at first. Really hope we can get a server list of some kind (in-game, I mean) in the future. Meanwhile, I guess it is pretty much match-by-match servers for people who want to play. BTW, how possible is it to get an automatic server set up thing that automates things like port-forwarding, global player names, and things like that, because that would make small servers much more accessible for people who just want to do a little dogfight or something, but don't want to go to the trouble of creating a dedicated server.
And yes, now that I think of it, Google+ is probably a much better choice for people to coordinate on. I'll be setting up that server sometime today or tomorrow, depending on when I can work out all the kinks.
EDIT: the server's up, take a look at the top post. <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Hey Michiolon,
I'd like to add my server to the list
71.90.29.29 (v0.270)
By the way, I was going to suggest you might want to put the server version in your list!
Thanks for doing this man!
Also, the game really isn't balanced for pvp yet, and you respawn immediately, so I'd remove the rule about missiles for now. The easiest way to get new missiles would just be to get shot down and respawn anyway, you couldn't control that.
Got it, will do <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_biggrin.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />. most of the rules are just suggestions really, because there isn't much people can do to enforce them.
Just wanted to point out that this hasn't been updated in a long time, and people should not refer to this list anymore for multiplayer servers. I will perhaps be starting a new thread in the future that I'll have control over and will keep updated.
