I have been following this game for a while and I did already post something on the beta a few weeks ago here: beta-news-and-contests-f35/shattered-horizon-beta-t383.html
But what makes the game by Futuremark Games Studio interesting for me is the back drop. A huge mining accident happened on the Moon causing significant damage to the moon and now a large debris field is encompassing the Earth. Preventing any rescue for the astronauts on the ISS (International Space Station) and the miners on the Moon and surrounding debris.
The video below just shows a news cast of the happenings that setup the game. No gameplay is seen in this video:

Cannot wait to see how Futuremark creates the zero gravity combat and as always I hope to see some great space visuals. Here are some screen shots from Shattered Horizon:
So make sure you checkout http://www.shatteredhorizon.com/ for all the latest info on the game and sign-up for the beta while you are there. Maybe if SSC is lucky we might even be able to get an interview or a dev to chat about the game. 🙂
Must be vista or windows 7 only 🙁
Have windows 7 beta and not all bugs out yet so I guess I will wait..
You have time to wait for this game. It still isn't in Beta yet. Just looks very interesting and cannot wait to see the actual combat and backdrops of the game. I hope the world is somewhat destructible.
Agreed on the time line lol Both ground and air combat would be nice, will see ... soon I hope lol Will see what happens if pieces of the moon hit or not lmao
Here was some links I was sent to keep yourself up to date on the games progress.
Cannot wait to see some in game footage of this one in action.
Here is the latest trailer for Shattered Horizon.
And to let everyone know that the Beta is now complete and the game should be coming soon.
So who actually got this game and played it?
I bought it but haven't played it yet. Waiting for the ordered computer parts to arrive so I can finally build a new machine...and play it 😀
I played the beta and it was pretty solid but I have been getting burned out on FPS because I have a ton of them between my PC and PS3. Remember it is a DX10 game so you will need that to play it (so no WinXP), that was even the requirement for the beta. Visuals are solid though.
New free content addon for Shattered Horizon called Moonrise. The visuals look great!
I thought this was a nice video of Shattered Horizon which is a DX10 only game that is MP only.
I really want to play this, but it doesn't work on Windows XP. I found that out the hard way when they did that free weekend a while back.
That is correct. It is only a DX10 game and you can you have DX10 on MS Vista or Win7 and of course you need to have a gfx card that supports DX10
Yeah, which sucks 🙁
Shattered Horizons is going to be F2P this weekend only on Steam
Remember you need DX10 to play this game.
Looks pretty, but sounds like it's just a shooter right?
Yes it is just a FPS in Zero-G
This game will not run on WinXp.
I have the system specs, but no DX10.
Even though I admire Shattered Horizons for its graphics and wanting to deliver the best visual gameplay for their game, they kinda shot themselves in the foot with not least making the game DX9 compatible. There is still a large portion of gamers still on WinXP and MSoft in its greedy wisdom will not release DX10 for WinXP even though it can run on it 🙂
Surely someone's modded WinXp with DX10? 😆
Doing some google searches it seems that you can hack it together but good luck getting the accurate info, but if you do I will gladly report it for everyone 🙂
From what I've read, it seems doing this is comparable to taking IE6 and replacing large pieces of it with Firefox 3.6...
I'll just pick it up from a digital bargain bin when XP is on the level 95 is now.
I got this on Steam a day or so ago for £6.99. Only playing single player against bots at the moment as I don't know anyone else who has it.
I got the game for research reasons more than anything else as I have an idea to build something along the same lines - but based on the moon (low gravity) rather than in space (zero gravity).
Anyway, played a few games, and it is an interesting concept - basically putting CoD in space, it works as a game, but I think it needs more... though not sure exactly what...
One aspect I think is really great is the true 3D nature of the game maps - it literally does add an extra dimension to the usual FPS experience.
I picked this game up in a indie bundle type purchase a few months ago and just haven't loaded it up yet. Usually time gets in my way but gameplay looks to be fun.
I played this game a lot back in the days. I enjoyed it a lot, but the eventually low player count made the game less and less fun. It shined on 10v10 or more.
I think the only solo type play is with bots? It's a shame they never created a solo campaign.
