Interview with Volition

Quote:
A producer at Volition has said that there’s a group of people on the team that would “commit murder” to get the chance to make Freespace 3, citing Freespace 2’s poor sales as the reason Volition hasn’t returned to the space sim series.

This is why I hope all the time that a space/scifi related game just goes to the moon in sales and that will get some of the larger developers thinking about their old IPs and want to dust them off and create something new. Back when FS1/2 came out it was a joystick world and consoles didn't really have the power to play these games. Now they could do some multiplatform development and get it out to everyone expanding sales opportunities.

It's a shame in the end... I hope one day Volition will secretly develop FS3 and surprise us all 🙂

The comments were good too. So nobody is interested in space sims anymore? 😆 Almost every great title of the past was mentioned in those comments! Lets hope those who could make it happen take notice, and yes that includes you too Mr Braben! 😀

Sadly it seems that all the big deves have no faith in the sales numbers and hence no one is willing to put the money into making a game.As D1 said there needs to a big hit before most of them will take a chance.
