To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hello Guys! Am i looking for a game that doesn't exist? I want a (preferably) free game that you can explore every inch of subspace, and exit subspace through a beacon or something. Combat, trading, exploration, all that kinda jazz. It doesn't have to have those, but subspace yes! I really want to try out this subspace concept.
Well your right I can't think of any game that has navigable hyperspace as in Babylon 5 style?, most of then you just jump to the next star system although come to think of it I'm sure there a couple of games which have had a worm hole style of travel which you fly through while avoiding asteroids ect.
Wasn't Star Control 2 has some kind of subspace (or was it hyperspace) map where you can get around the universe quickly and encounter some stuff?
As in wormhole which allow you to travel around the map faster?, off hand I can't remember if StarControl 2 has wormholes but the StarFlight games did and some newer games like Starpoint Gemini 2 also allow the player to quickly move around different areas of the map.
Can confirm, it's hyperspace however

Yes, i meant hyperspace. But what i'm looking for is a 3D game... I have played star control 2, and i'm still playing it. SC2's Hyperspace mechanics are the kind i'm looking for, though.
One presumes you're aware of Elite and its many incarnations/clones/remakes, yes?
Elite games aside, there is also the fan created Babylon 5: I've Found Her: available here.
Here is a trailer.
I wonder if Babylon5 copied StarControl 2 hyperspace colour as they are both red.
Well! Babylon 5 may have met what i wanted.. I guess i have to play to find out! Sorry for chat delay, i was on vacation.
IIRC the B5 game is more a missions based game like Wing Commander, so you won't find any trading and exploration in it.
