This game looked amazing, however, it doesn't seem as there's any new progress. Is it dead or just moving very slowly? I've been wanting this game mostly for it's modding abillities and SP storyline mode.

Any gossip? rumors? anything?

Last time I talked to c0mas work was going really slow because of personal reasons for a few of the developers. I will try to get a hold of him and see if he has an update for us.

That would be cool. I'm grabbing the demo right now. Was this a "we're doing this on our own time cuz the genre needs it" production? or are these guys funded and all that good stuff?

Believe it or not, my goal in life was to be a game developer. I even got degrees in both computer science AND from art collage..

...maybe it's not too late.. 😎

It's never too late. Nowadays you can find anything you'd need for the game for free on the internet, from the actual game engine up to art stuff and music etc. etc. All you'd need is time and passion.

As far as I know Dreambuilder Studios is self funded so that could also be an issue as well that is slowing progress.

Kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/ They do have some strange rules but it may be worth a look.

Well here is some info, you remember a while back I told you that Dream Builder Studios (DBS) was also working on a mobile version of Heresy Wars? Well they are getting close to releasing it and it has been fully ported to the iOS (I will have to ask about Android availability). Before we will see this on the devices they just need to flush out a few more things like:

- Menu systems still need a little work on the touch devices

- Lowering the poly count on a lot of models to increase the frame rates on the devices (so far looking good on the retina displays)

- Do some more tweaking to the controls

- Finalize the addon system for in-app purchases

What c0mas also mentioned is that they will try to keep Heresy War as low priced as possible and try to use in-app purchases to fund their work. The release plan changed last year in that they would shift gears to work on the mobile version so they could make some money to fund themselves and help with the development of the PC version of HW. DBS is committed to get Heresy War out to us its just the development pain of being a indie developer.

I do agree with Pinback's thoughts in that maybe DBS could utilize Kickstarter to get some funds for doing both versions. We have seen this avenue be quite a success for a few upcoming titles and with HW already looking good and that trailer from last year I'm sure there would be a nice line of people willing to donate. Now the tough part is seeing if I can get c0mas to show off some new screenshots or videos for the loyal fans 🙂

Right now Heresy War is on hold. It's a very big project and a very important one for us, however we cannot make any further progress on it unless we can work full time on it.  Basically what it boils down to is how well Strike Wing will do.

At the moment the team is working on projects in its spare time, and that's a very difficult thing to do, especially with projects with the scope of Heresy War.  That's why we are working on Strike Wing, in hopes that someday (sooner rather than later) we'll get the financial independence that will allow us to work together full-time as a proper game development team.
