I recently d/l this from GoG.com and been messing around with it but noticed a few things.
When attacked I get messages on HUD of Hull Damage but the shield bar never seems to drop and the hull will slowly go back to 100%
Also the first mission where you come under attack seems way overpowered. I did get past it finally but I think mainly it had something to do with cutscenes. If I let them talk at their own pace and finish it out normally I could usually speed away while taking damage but then I could fight back. If I interupted the cut scenes for some reason they had me dead within 4 seconds. Missle launches and rapid firing and no matter what I did I couldnt last a second.
Now so far the combat I am running into seems standard for these types of games but I am wondering if maybe my system while running it, is accelerating the game engine somehow. But I am concerned about the hull msg vs shields, unless that petrel ship didnt have any to start with, I will have to check next time..
Another game I have not played in along time, dug out the original disk version as it is still installed on my hard drive but it seems to have some sort of mod added to it at point at some time and my save games have disappeared. 😕
Seem to remember the there was a bit lag on the cut scenes but it probably down to my old 98 computer not being up to the task of running it.
So you could be right about modern hardware running it too fast, have GOG said anything about it. ❓
I posted there but no response, altho most of the threads are semi dead. I can accept a difficult game but when it seems like apples and oranges for combat at times, I wonder if its glitch and the whole no shields showing dropping make me question the game.
