Look like no one been keeping an eye on Miner wars for awhile.
They have just announced a Q3-Q4 date, no mention if it a box release or just a digital one.
Cool they finally set a date. I pre-ordered this over a year ago now, got to help Indy devs and all <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I haven't played the pre-release for a while now, anyone know how it plays now? Last time I played they were just adding in the base construction framework.
I haven't played it since the alpha, it looks like from the videos that they are really coming along with the graphics and texturing. Content is what I was mainly worried about in this game, because Miner Wars 2081 sure looks like a amped up Descent II personally and I liked the original concept of the game and I hope they stick to it and not make a clone of descent.
I know what you mean, so I decided to try out the latest build.
Messing around with the prefab editor thingy is fun, you can build things with it. I think the sandbox mode should be fun, mining for resources and slowly using them to build up your base, but I've a feeling the story based game will be exactly as you say, an amped up Descent II.
They are meant to be releasing a proper demo soon with actual gameplay, so I guess we will find out pretty soon.
Originally MW2081 was going to be an open world style game where you would traverse this asteroid field looking for wealth and keeping away from the bad guys. They were adding in the combat, tunneling and mining and it sounded just right. To me it would have been nice to have the freedom of movement, i'm not getting that vibe anymore for that type of game. And I think it will be a mistake to not have real content, a single player game must entertain and have substance. From what I see in the videos you think they are skipping the standalone story game for the MMO version.
