I noticed that there is an English Language Patch mod for the game Homeplanet in the downloads. I got excited when I saw this, because I had played an English Language (well, English subtitled) demo of Homeplanet that I thought was excellent. I picked up a copy of it in Russian, thinking eventually there would be an English Language patch for the whole game like the demo. Turns out I was wrong, and I have had a hard time getting anywhere in the game due to my complete lack of Russian language comprehension.
So, when I saw this patch after so many years, I was excited. I downloaded it... but I can't seem to get it to work. It's probably user error on my part, but I was wondering if there was anybody out there who could give me a little clue (or hit me with a clue-by-four) to help me figure out how to make it work so I can finally really give Homeplanet a try.

This is just a friendly little bump to see if anybody can help me out with this? Do we know who made the patch so I could contact them and ask?
I would have to download all of this myself and take a look, I have yet to play this game or even install it to see if this works.

Well I have taken a look at this and I haven't been able to get this running, I emailed starlord to see if he has any insight on getting this working. I know the translation was in 'the works' just not sure if it was ever completed 100%. It looks like the files are good, but I think we have to compile them and maybe build them so they are in a .war file. But I am guessing, because the files that are created with the patch do not exist in the install, so really I wouldn't see how it would work since your not overwriting any files. I might poke at it some more to see if I can get it working.
Poking around a bit more and I was able to unpack the add_resource.war file with WACAM_hpgold.exe and inside here is all the files you would need to update, my guess is that you would need to replace the existing files with the english files and repacked the add_resource.war and try running the game. I think winzip or winrar can also open a .war file I'm not sure on this though. But looking through all the files in the add_resource.war I noticed that there is a lot more files that would need to be translated, I tried copying out some of the text in the files into google translate and I cannot get any english translation out of it. We might need someone that speaks and writes Russian to help with this.

It's definitely in some sort of language but I haven't been able to translate it at all. For anyone interested this is 'HP_ADDON_DATAHTMLHintsa0_1_hint.html' when you extract the add_resource.war.

Due to having to translate Stalker code, I used a lot of different sites. My fav translation of all time was the tutorial on how to hang your neighbor, it was actually about hanging light fixtures.
