To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hi guys!
I've been searching Google for it, but surprisingly it came up with mediocre results... so I decided to ask here:
Are there any "portable" space sims out there? As in, Space sim games easily installed on a usb flash drive (of 2GB or 8GB) without having to use a friends computer to drag everything from the C drive or running into admin stuff?
Thanks ^^
There are many I am sure, but to get you started, Drop by Elite Forever. In there you will find self contained packages of all the old Elite games. They should be fine for a USB stick.
Not too sure what you mean Tattorack do you mean a game that can be run and played straight from a USB drive without being installed on a computers drive?.
Oolite (basically a modern Elite) can be run of a USB stick I heard.
Download it at http://oollite.org

Installable on a usb drive without a buggered admin prompt popping up, yes.
I understand it'll be slower than a normally installed game, but I'm patient ^^

Already tried it, its awesome but wont let me acces my saved file without buying :/
Right now I don't have any money on me (and since this appears NOT to be made by some big consumer company it wouldn't feel right to hack it...)
Scratch that, just found out it was released for free
