To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

SciFi & Adventure Game Fans,
The Two Guys from Andromeda (authors of the renowned Space Quest series) are BACK together and better than ever!!!
They need YOUR help to make their epic new 'SpaceVenture,' so why not visit their new kickstarter and give at least a buck?! They're offering some AWESOME rewards in return for giving more.
They already have some great pros from the filming/gaming industry onboard, including Gary Owens himself, from the original series! Be sure to watch the cool video at the kickstarter website.
There is also an official website for the new game: http://guysfromandromeda.com/
The clock is ticking, we need YOU if this is to happen. Help revive the adventure game genre in general, and bring to life an epic new series from the original authors who defined sci-fi comedy in adventure gaming as you know it!
I just saw this game this evening on kickstarter and it will be nice to have some Space Quest style games again. I do like the fact this will be a multi-platform release. Has a plot/storyline been published about 'Two Guys from Andromeda'?
ahhh. me and ol' Roger Wilco had some fun times back in the day. 🙂
I am not so certain wether or not it will be a story depicting the Two Guys, as much as I sense it's a new adventure BY the Two Guys, depicting a new hero.
I can tell you guys this much, however, which can be verified by visiting the kickstarter page: For every 100k that is raised, a demo will be release, and according to Chris Pope (their customer relations/social media expert), in a response to my website email yesterday, they already have some very nice stuff to show; so keep an eye out and you'll get a sample of what's in store.
We simply must do what we can to get this thing funded, and whoever gives $15.00 or more already owns the game when it comes out in 2013. Most importantly, NOTHING is charged UNLESS the fund goal is met.
It would be very nice if somebody with the ability/authority could post an add conveying this on the SpaceSimCentral Homepage, so that potential pledgers will be aware of this news.
Most Respectfully,
Johnathon
Hooked you up and will be glad to see another space adventure series out there, there is also some really good fan projects out there as well.
Thank you so much!
Know that they're releasing a demo once the 100k mark is reached (and that could happen as soon as tomorrow!) 🙂 Also, there will be a demo released for every 100k that is raised.
Now that you mention fan projects, 3 have been released in the last few months, and I'm currently working on one myself. The SQ series has a strong mass of enthusiastic followers.
UPDATE: And the first demo/prototype is now out. I recommend you guys go give it a test-flight.
Note: There has been some stigma regarding the use of html5 to program the demo, but keep in mind this is a work in progress, and quite exciting as what the Two Guys have in store is obviously a brand new and novel idea. You will see this demo develop according to fan feedback once the next demo (200k mark) can be released.
You can also get some more context of what seems to have inspired the use of html5 for the demo by visiting the below link:

NOTE: The final decision as to what language will be used to program the final adventure has not yet been made. The Two Guys are in experimentation, but whatever chosen will be appropriate, and the final version will be completely independent/standalone, bootable from hard drive without the need of chrome or any other web browser.
UPDATE: Only 25k away from the 2nd demo release. Also, a couple more reward/pledge options have been added (as well as a comical Two Guys Video. Go check it out! 🙂
Hey Guys!
Prototype #2 is out, and while it is NOT necessarily a scene from the final game, it is a sample of what the gameplay may feel like, and the quality of art they are experimenting with. PLEASE, go check it out! 🙂 You will not be disappointed.
The Two Guys from Andromeda have also updated the reward tiers (for the second time), so the rewards are much more... REWARDING. 🙂
