To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Small fix pack that solves the failure reported by Marcel  here .

 

Just download   zz-pioneersp-g17f-fixpack01.zip   and place it, as is, in the mods folder, without extracting.

:pioneer: I'm here to report that I have nothing to report. I installed your fix pack and my saved game loaded correctly. I've had no problems at space stations. When landing at ground stations on autopilot I sometimes see ships launching but we don't collide. I assume it's because of the distance between the pads.

:pioneer: Sir, I have a bug report. I was at Wolfeville in the Tau Ceti system. I accepted a postal run to Eridani Commercial Center. When I arrived at Epsilon Eridani I attempted to save the game and got a CTD. I tried two more times, the third time I arrived in the middle of a dogfight and got hit, but left the area with a Sidewinder pursuing. I tried to save and again got a CTD. That time I zipped up the opengl and output files for you to look at.

I tried one more time. I intended to not save until I arrived at my destination. Unfortunately, I got a CTD while travelling. I didn't note the exact distance from the target, but it was approximately 0.3 AU. Here's the files from that attempt.

The risk is in the orbital ports.

 

Faced with the danger of a collision, you can try this: 

 

1 - ABORT AUTOPILOT with F5 

2 - ENGINES IN REVERSE with K 

3 - UP, DAWN, LEFT or RIGHT thrust (with U, O, J or L), as appropriate. 

4 - IF EVEN YOU NOT HAVE CHOSEN YOUR GOD NOW IS THE TIME.  :rabbi:

 

I attempted to save the game and got a CTD

 

This is strange. I am studying the files and I think there may be problem with some mod, it is even likely that the saved file is corrupted. But I want to study it better, to be safe.  :pioneer:

Here's the saved game I started from. I can try it again after removing the skybox mods and changing my ship via the console. I can't remove the hometowns mod because missions to Earth cities are in the bulletin board. I'll do some more testing today. Maybe I'll first try keeping everything as it is and going somewhere else.

Ok, this time I went to NN3140 instead. I jumped to the system and saved the game without a crash. I saw in the output.txt for Epsilon Eridani a lot of spaceports relocated because they were underwater or on rough terrain. This was true for Sol and Epsilon Eridani both. This surprised me because the hometowns were placed at the location of the city's airports.

AHA! There was a postal mission to NN3140, but I forgot to accept it before I launched. I tried again, this time accepting the mission. This time it crashed!

I was using as a repository box.com. It seems that now, box.com requires login to download, I do not like. I want not requires login, to download Scout.

The different modules of action, Jousting.lua and Battle.lua, are now more integrated with Traffic, this improve and streamline the experience of "action on demand".

The Traffic module, enhances and makes more in each version. Now, replacing BulkShips.lua module also controls large ships stationed near the orbital ports.

 

Now you can enable/disable the auto battle system with a configurable key.

Gone are the annoying and repeated police messages, which nullified the radar. Now  the police do not notify with messages, but the fine, wait  in port. And if you do not pay, your life in the faction, will be complicated.

 

MechaniCop (police robot spacecraft) has learned to defend the player, of pirates that attack within 100 Km of the spaceport.

 

Adjusted the size of the explosions graphics for better performance in battle multi ships.

 

Information on the number of passenger cabins which supports a ship is provided.

 

And many small improvements that you will discovery.

Some notes for this version. 

 

The key to enable / disable auto combat is "Y" by default. But you can change the one you like. I have him set to "CapsLock", for use the led "CapsLock" indicator of keyboard. 

 

You must be careful of activate the auto combat "only when you are certain that the ship that shoots, shoot to you". You do not want the auto combat is active when you exit hyperspace in the middle of a dogfight.

 

The auto combat does not do everything alone. Only set the ship toward the target and shoot. He need your help, you must accelerating and braking to maintain the target at a suitable distance (1000, 1500 mts)

 

The police can help if a pirate attack within 100 Km of the spaceport. But the police are not always there when we need it.

 

It may be that you do not find free bay in some spaceport; do not despair, in a few seconds or minutes, the ships begin to leave the port, and you can dock.

Might I make a suggestion?

 

Lowering the payments for the explore missions. Right now it only takes a few missions before you can get into a Lanner and that seems a little easy.

@SanguinemUK  You're right. In the next stage of the game, balance is needed.

The good news is that @fluffyfreak has found a way to fix this in the Pioneer engine. See here

Thanks to this, the next version of Scout (G19) will be much, really much faster to load.

Perhaps there is a little delay, but when you open up a well stocked ship yard, its oh so worth it, same goes for Genesia too. :girlcrazy:

* Best balance in the paid of missions Messenger-Delivery, Transportation of Persons (Taxi) and Scout.

* You must be very careful not to jump to hyperspace, less than 2500 mts of space ports, which is now a crime severely fined; but you can always do it if absolutely necessary.

* Police attacks the NPC ships that fire near the spaceport, and as the case, may defend the player.

* The police presence is greater now.

* The hyperdrive engines now have a only 30 day warranty. You must pay a specialist mechanic for extend it, or risk destroying the engine will be high.

* The fine is increased if you deliver exploration results in a different faction of the original. Some Scout missions are very tempting, but you should be careful not to be led into a trap.

* New military hyperdrive with more power and constructed of special materials that result in a significant reduction in mass. They are expensive and require military fuel much more expensive.

Great stuff Walterar! Looking at the Storeria ship, it kind of reminds me of the Space 1999 Eagle, yes I like! :girlcrazy:

 

And no, sorry Walterar but I am hopeless with the automatic fighter pilot. I much prefer full manual combat. I still keep trying to control the ship and end up fighting the auto pilot. Too many years of Elite II means its instinct for me now when it comes to battles.

 

I also noticed the latest Pioneer build is broken, so which build did you use for G19f as it's base?

An work of Laarmen, very big and very long awaited, has just been added in the master of Pioneer Space Sim. This work is very important for the future. It will allow the development of many new and interesting things. But, it is not over yet. 

 

Luckily, now, Pioneer Scout Plus has its own master, separated of the master Pioneer Space Sim. 

 

The operation of each new work that fuses the Scout+ master  is properly tested, in the possible, to not cause any problems to the player. 

 

If I check a work that causes problems, simply because they are not finished yet, just do not include it. 

 

My intention is to release a final product playable until the next version. 

 

Now, while you play the new versión Scout+ G19, I'll try to help solve the problems of the Pioneer engine.  :mole:

Ouch! I made a grave mistake. I have distributed my personal executable, which has replaced the F1 key for the 5 key on the numeric pad. Excuse me.   :swoon:

 

Here you can download this little fix pack that contains the correct executable:  Windows32Linux32Linux64

 

Only must unpack and replace the wrong executable, by the new .  :good:
