Bajuk Welcome, and thank you for trying Scout+

This seems to be a problem of Pioneer and I can not make it happen in Linux. But I want to be sure. Do you remember the circumstances under which this error occurs?

Yea, it constantly happens when you access the "system view" of an unexplored system before u actually get there, after jumping into the system u can access the "system view" and get the generic message that long range telescopes... etc . So if I'm accessing a system view of a system that has any kind of settlement or even just prospecting but no settlements everything is ok but if it's a never explored system game crashes. It doesn't bother me much because unexplored systems wouldn't show anything anyway, but just thought you would like to know.

Sorry for the chaotic description I didn't know how to describe it better 😛

I'm trying to get this fault occurs on my system. Do not move from there.

I assume you have installed pioneer-20140213-win32.7z + Pioneer Scout+ G14 +  Pioneer Scout+ G14 FixPack 01 + Pioneer Scout+ G14 FixPack 02

This error occurs without any mod installed?

It is likely that we are facing the same problem, but I want to be sure it is not something related to Scout+

I do have both fixpacks and scout+ installed and no other mods. Like I said that crash doesn't really affect the gameplay cause it only happens when you try to do "system view" on an unexplored systems and since there is nothing to see there anyway it doesn't mess with the gameplay.  I didn't notice that error occuring in "bare" Pioneer.

I found it. This is not an error of Scout+, this is a mistake of Pioneer, and happens only in the compilation of Windows.

Check this. Removes all Mods, run alone Pioneer. Now find "Greve" system (in 0,2,86) Press F7 and bingo!

The most serious is that Greve system does not exist in Linux   :O

Thank for this catch.   I am preparing the report for GitHub y certainly have a solution in the next release of Pioneer.

Now, put the mods back and enjoy the game.

This has been fixed a few days ago. With a few days old Linux version there was a Greve (0,2,86) and it would throw the given assertion on activating system info view.

Edit:

Those were issues #2743,#2744 by the way

Oh, I see. Then you should check out the version released for Windows. Maybe they compiled a old version by mistake.

@lwho

You're right, I just saw that the solution was incorporated on 2014.02.14

@ Bajuk

The fix is in the next release.

No worries, like I said it doesn't spoil the fun cause u can't see anything in those systems before u get there anyway so there is no point in pressing f7 🙂 Other than that I love the Scout+ mod. Did anybody ever thought about putting inertia dampners in this game, dogfighting in this game is tough as nails. I was so proud of my self when i killed my first mob, but at speeds over 1km/s its virtually impossible to do anything but just spin around and shoot while traveling in one direction. I get that's the real feel of zero-g but u would think ppl in 32nd century would figure out how to counter the G's in space. Also I know that that might be hard to do but flying inside planets atmosphere has a similar feel to flying in open space with no gravity, u cant feel any atmospheric resistance that would make you switch to a different flying style.

@Bajuk

Last night, before sleeping, I've updated the links to the new release 20140216 Pioneer that had just been published (Thanks @robn and @lwho).

I agree with what you said. You will find that there are many wonderful things and many others to improve in the Pioneer engine, and Scout+. The most important thing is that we are all working hard to get things moving fast lately.

Thanks Geraldine, is really a pleasure for me to work in Scout.

This new version (G15) works, too, very well with the mod Marcel.

The Pioneer translation system is broken. Probably in languages other than English or Spanish, have problems. The CXX developers are working to resolve it. If you have this problem, please say so here, maybe your report will help.

Thanks Geraldine, you are the sun that lights the forum.

I just did a emergency solution for the problem of languages.

This fix pack temporarily fixes the crash mentioned, until it is fixed in the master of Pioneer.

The fixed languages are: German, Italian, French, Russian, Polish, Swedish, and Hungarian.

Translations have been made with Google translator, so it can not be perfect.

Download this hotfix mod free here: zz-hotfix-lang-140301.zip and put it next to mod G15

If your language is not listed, please tell me and I will include.

I just noticed that with my Hometowns mod the start position is the sixth port in the list with Scout+, and the third port on the list with plain Pioneer. I don't know why this is, but I mentioned it in the instructions.

Also, Vuzz's skybox works with plain Pioneer, but not with Scout+. I tried to add the prefix zzz to the filename to make it last on the list alphabetically, but it doesn't work. Do you have any thoughts on this?

@ Marcel

Pioneer (on Earth) begins in London now. Before he did in Los Angeles.

Scout begins in Los Angeles, like your mod.

Scout has 11 different boxes (of 768kb) that are rotated: default.dds, ub0.dds to ub9.dds

The Vuzz mod only contains default.dds (of 12Mb)

I have also noticed that your mod contains files that should not be there (decals folder, and many files png)

So Vuzz's mod might be working but the skybox for Sol is not default.dds in Scout+. If that is correct I can change the name of the files so I can have Vuzz's Milky Way at Sol.
