Ah, the english language, more dialects than you can rattle a stick at 🙂 A space sim fan from my part of the UK might be heard to say, "AmtoottlynaffedaffhinginabooutfuryonElitefuoorbut!" 😕

English translation: " I am very sad because I have been waiting for the Elite IV game for a long time!" 😆

😯 ROFL 😆

'Izziafiz Boozin' - Is he reasonably sober 😆

Is that not disconcerting? - Zatnoa nabsaloot Scunner

An old Ex-girlfriend was from Perth. She had her moments like that too 😉 One phrase I remember her using a lot was 'doony ken' or something... 🙂

I've removed it for now, I'm going to repackage it with a few extra goodies as Alpha7. Tom has some really neat changes that he has added too, Im just testing to see if they are all ready 🙂

I've only done planet axial tilt since alpha6, plus bug fixes. It has been a bad month for coding. Burnout, other interests, etc. Interestingly, last year around this time I also stopped coding much, and didn't pick up till the next spring. All the dark is bad for you. Back then I was bummed out at having replaced the old model system with the lua one, but in the end that turned out to be a good choice since it is really flexible and people have done cool stuff with it.

I'm reading "Life's Origins: The Beginnings of Biological Evolution". It is inspiring me to work on the planet generation.

Well to me axial tilt is a very neat feature 🙂 And a couple of other people around here will appreciate that too.

Sounds pretty interesting. Has it got you thinking about plant-life ❓ 😉

Maybe with the press conference that the NASA is going to held today, we need to rethink some of the visual composition of the planets... waiting to see the live transmission

Oh, it was only hype, but the "new" bacteria it's a exiting discovery... here is a good explanation about it

Maybe in Arsenic-atmospheric planets, indigenous life can be seen in the game

Did some exploration of the alpha 7 Sol system and noticed that Daniel's Base is listed as Daniel's Haven on the planetary info screen. I wonder, after whom it could possibly be named? Nice place, but the walls look rather bare. 😉

I hear they name things after any old idiot these days 🙄

Hmm, it shouldn't be 'Daniel's Base', maybe you mean Dante's Base?. Here's the bases I added to sol system these are all from way before alpha6:

"Daniel's Haven" :🙄

"Discovery Base" : Orbits Jupiter.... If you can't see the Discovery reference.... well 🙄

"Dante's Base" : Dante's Inferno, in a volcano 😉

"Poseidon Station" : Poseidon/Triton, it seemed right, Greek Gods I think.

"Pluto Research Base" : errm ❓

"Enki Catena" :Imperial Earth reference.

"Port Makenzie": Imperial Earth reference.

"Oasis City": Either a reference to something or random name, I forget 🙂

"Clarke's Station":Orbits Europa, another 2001 reference (Arthur C Clarke)

"Tomm's Sanctuary": This is where Tom goes to hide from all us whining fans 😉

"Phobos Base":DOOM... need I say more?

"Mars High": Come on... FFE 🙂

"Olympus Mons":Home of the Gods 😉

"Cydonia":Home to the giant stone arse of mars

"Lunar City": Reference to lots of things, Red Dwarf included 😆

Of course 🙂

I'll post the entire list of custom systems and descriptions so you can see how many need to have them.

There's no harm in adding descriptions for now, but they will probably have to be changed in a few months once Tom has finished with his new system generation stuff, as the galaxy would be different.

" Communication with Earth was non-existent, politics and the 80 year time-lag made it impossible."

" However with the advent of Hyper-Space Technology in the late 26th Century,"

" Earth began to show an interest in Alioth once more and"

" Alioth was no longer a self-governed world.\n"

Corparate names - could introduce corprates holding x number of planets and if wars break out or new colonies created they could change hands

I've added super massive giants into the game now, as well as a limit to colonised space. Note that the game already had Blue-Giants, they were just extremely rare, now we have red and blue Super-Massive giants which are rediculous... but real 🙂

Theres now a lower chance for high-tech hi population worlds on the rim, it scales from low to hi pop with the percentage chances, as well as distance.

Over about 500 LY most stars will become unexplored, after about 750LY all stars are unexplored. But there is still a tiny chance to find a colony.... just for fun 🙂

Also, the clever old system generation seems to automatically know to place the first planet far enough away from the large suns, in this case thats about 12 AU from the sun..... nice 🙂

Edit, updated pics:

Oh man I can't wait for the next release ... !

Just a quick note, in Alpha 7 there was a bug where the first planet after the star is given the name 'b' (eg Epsilon Eridani b) instead of 'a'. Is this fixed in the next alpha (or is it even intentional)?

that sounds and looks awesome 🙂 Great!

Now with systems that big and complex i think it really becomes necessary that the player is able to pick the navigation targets from the system map. Is anyone already working on that feature?
