New thrusters, that is!
Luomu, being awesome, has updated the look of the thrusters. This is currently on the tracker as pull request #945 and may be appearing in a nightly build very soon. This might be subject to further tweaks, so please don't treat this as a finished product.
The video shows the thrusters on an Eagle MkI and a Hammerhead, both with and without HDR. if you see a black square on the sun, that's a known bug in HDR mode, as is the entirely black screen that follows it.
Merged to master, and will appear in the next nightly (available within the next half hour). Its slightly modified from what's in the video to make the thrusters look more consistent at various angles. This seems to cause a lot more flicker when HDR is enabled, but that's pretty normal for HDR at the moment.
Ziusudra has repurposed the code for new lasers, check this out:
😮 yes ! beautiful !
wait for alpha 20.... 😥
wait for alpha 20.... 😥
If you want to wait, then wait. That's your choice. (-:
how to make this change to apply to alpha 19? if it is simple .... Teach plz 🙄
Not alpha 19. Get a nightly build instead.
Done THX
😛
Is there a nightly with those new lasers? Got the thrusters but old lasers.
Not yet. They were submitted for inclusion as I was going to bed, and I'm just about to leave for work. I'll be reviewing and merging that code today or tonight and as long as there's no problems (and there shouldn't be), they'll appear in the next nightly.
New builds are up with the new lasers included.
Well whether the combat has a complete makeover or not, that is a huge improvement. I notice the lasers have much higher range now and they travel at a much better speed. I was landing many more hits than before and the whole fight had a much faster pace about it than before. I still died of course 😆
Thrusters look great too 😳 😀
Its only a visual change. They look nicer and are visible for longer, but they move at the same speed and do the same kind of damage as before.
The speed and range haven't actually changed. These appear faster because they are drawn smaller and there was a bug that was causing them to only be drawn out to 2.5km from the camera.
Really? How weird that they seem faster. Maybe I'm just getting used to them.
