Gimme Shelter (along with Little Wing) is a song that I knew about for decades without ever actually hearing the song - they were never played on any rock show I listened to - got the CD's 8 or 10 years ago though.

Probably heard some of the Perry songs as John Peel used to play a lot of Reggae. Most of the Reggae that I know is Bob Marley and songs / covers by Punk bands (The Clash, Ruts, Stiff Little Fingers).

When going to music pioneering, Little Richard should be here, for me)

And his young fan David Bowie

Paul McCartney also a fan of Little Richard. I play along to some of his songs as part of a jam session night but I can't remember the titles (I get a bit confused as to which of those old Rock'n'Roll songs belong to which artist - we do Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis etc).

I'm sure I spotted Steve Cropper in the Little Richard video so ....

The Beatles opened for Little Richard a few times. My favourite Beatles song? For No One, sung by Emmylou Harris...

Much as I love Sgt. Pepper's and Abbey Road, Revolver was their best album.

My favourite track from Sgt. Pepper's...

Some videos have been released recently of John Lee Hooker playing in the UK about 1964 while being backed by a British band called The Groundhogs - I thought they were from the US. It turns out that I have had a Groundhogs song on tape for decades without knowing who it was by ...

Another song that I had on tape but never knew the title or artist is this one by Robin Trower - sounds a bit Hendrixy ...

This was the first song that I heard on the Friday Rock Show that I liked - still prefer these old Maiden songs to the new ones
