To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I discovered this game a few months ago, just after it first got music. After very little effort, I became comfortable with the interface and was exploring the universe in no time. Having played Oolite and Universal Combat, along with a number of other sims, I would have to say that Pioneer could be THE space-sim. Just in the last few weeks loads of fixes and new content have been added, stability and performance enhanced, and giant improvements to the mapping implemented. All I can say is...Wow. Way to bust ass, people!
I wish the community was bigger, but a small project this active, this serious about delivering, has nowhere to go but up. Thanks for the game, and thanks for the opportunity to help you create it (vicariously). 😆
I second that! This is a community of wonderful people. I'll use this opportunity to chime in and say thank you all for making Space Sim Central and Pioneer what they are today! 😀
It's always been my dream to see all 3 Elite games re-made for the modern-day. And with Oolite and FFE3D, I hope to see some cross developing going on between them and Pioneer communities too. All 3 communities have loads of talented people in them and it would be great to see them all working together to build the greatest space sim series (to date) to grace our (PC/MAC and what ever else people can come up with) screens 🙂
The SSC is important too as it provides the grit that makes the pearl 😉
the guy that did ffe3 is leading amoung the contributors to pioneer so his fingers are in this pie now
In my world, if it isn't cross-platform, it doesn't exist. So, Elite was re-made by Oolite, Frontier by Pioneer, and we haven't reached 1994 yet.
I must agree. Pioneer has come a long way since I bumped into it a few months ago. Just today I was tinkering with Alpha 15 and flew up to Gates Starport, and was thrilled to see a bulk cruiser parked outside the station. The developers have really managed to stay true to the original spirit of Frontier while improving things.
