Yes. Put your wheels down, and gently, slowly, lower onto the ground. Your ship must be parallel to the horizon, not the ground underneath you.

Use either Set Speed mode or Manual Control mode.

Unless on a high G planet... then the safety net of Set Speed can be useful to stop you (warning: technical term incoming) splatting.

Yes, if you thrust down when your speed is set to 0, then it will return to zero (as fast as it can compensate) when you stop thrusting. So you can make a nice gentle landing.

If you go manual, and thrust down, you can end up going faster than you intended, and have to scrabble for the up thrust to compensate.

I do the same kind of thing but thrusting up with partial thrusters set to 1 to 10% depending on local gravity.

I'd love some proper tailsitter ships to take advantage of the rear engine's higher thrust... will the new model system handle that?

nope (it's 99% not model system related anyway)

That said, it would be interesting to at least launch a ship like a rocket.

Vertical landing pads, maybe? A few quick HowTos on making custom stations, cities and things like that would actually be quite helpful in my quest to bring Megastructures to the game...

Thrust down, when you have all that handy gravity? Why waste the fuel?

One way to achieve a tail-sitter would be to rotate the entire model as part of the landing gear animation. Unfortunately, the strength of various thrusters wouldn't be consistent, and as far as I know there's no way to modify them as part of the animation. That said, it's something the new model system might be able to do. Not my area, though...

I found on the Internet this modification. Experienced in Evochron Mercenary. This gave a very mild type of space, nice to look at and no eye fatigue. If it's interesting, I give the link. If you manage to combine it with the game, I will be grateful.

Greetings. I would like to offer my two cents to the development of the beautiful game. Of course, my opinion is subjective. Other players - the game are different. However, if the game would translate at least some of what I came up with, I'll be very happy. 

 

1. Need to allow the player to build the station and ground construction. Then the player will be home in the game, and this is very important. 

2. Necessary to allow players to gather resources on the ground. 

3. I know - I'm very brazen ...) I really want to invent their own weapons, missiles, and devices - inside the game. And to call them the way I want it.))) 

4. If I make the discovery of the planet, or another object, I want to give it a name - on their own.) 

5. I want to have a connection with the ships nearby. To trade, or call for help. 

6. What would NPC, too, could have a relationship with me. Trade, call for help, rob ...))) 

7. Now - from the very beginning of the game the player open all the ships, all the jobs and all the equipment. My opinion - it's not interesting. Can you do this by looking at the development of the player? 

8. Pirates and aliens you can plant with bazookas on the ground. Let them rob me, and I will kill them.) 

9. Cities and stations for murder! Really want!))) 

10. Mission. It is very necessary: ​​to punish the failure of the mission. 

11. Very necessary sabotage missions against other factions. 

12. If I need a device, or a weapon, or ships - I want to buy, collect and bring back the resources. 

13. I want to find damaged vehicles, repair them, and that I would pay for it.

 

14. Let factions sometimes fighting each other.

15. I want to receive rescue mission right in the flight. Like, the ship crashed, the man is drowning, the child alone in the woods ... The epidemic in the neighboring city, urgently need medication.
