To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

This is the svg of the new ship control panel. It would be cool if people with more artistic talent than me would make better versions of it. Tools like inkscape can edit it. You need to export as 800x80 png and replace the data/icons/cpanel.png file.

Unfortunately the icons can't be moved around so you'll have to keep those locations for the time being.

Maybe we could have different svg's as mods in the game to suit many tastes. I was trying to make a version for my personal use of a panel and HUD incorporated but failed miserably. Here's my failed attempt:

Here's another idea I had. basicaly making all the panel as a transparency and making the buttons as transparency too, or replacing them with letters to make the the controls look more complicated. ^^ Like a very complicated craft. I think this is great as we could make the same thing with different colors (neon green, blue red etc). This is what I'm trying to replicate right now. Unfortunately my artistic abilities are quite limited 😳 so if there's someone with more experience in art design please go ahead and do so. It would be great to have different options. 🙂

Here's a site I go to get some inspiration: http://www.planesimulation.com/fsdownloads4/FS4p1x1.htm

Sure, or how about panels that alter per ship? It would mean a fair bit of graphic work but it would be a nice addition... Although surely full 3d cockpits with lighting would be a bit better 😉

Is that actually in the game? The planet looks like one of Pioneer's.

I know. 😀 But at least this could work as an economic alternative 😆 or in case a modeler is not available to make the 3d cockpits or if the player wants a more retro feel. The first Image is not in game, its actually a real photo that I played with to make it look more cartoonish. My plan was to erase the background and save it as png then apply it in game. but the svg is size restricted so it didn't work.

To be honest I think the original serves the purpose quite well. Until varied ship cockpits are possible at least 🙂

I like the transparency idea a lot but would present the problem of not being able to see it when facing a big light source

Taquito - could I get a copy of that image you posted? I really want to use it for an art project I am working on with my son! The larger the resolution the better...trying to make a cockpit in his playroom or tree house
