To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Your best trading route

What is the best trading route you've found so far?

Mine is between Fala (-1,-6,-3) and Laex (-1,-6,-3) which are 6.64 ly away:

  • Fala: buying Precious Metals at 154.8 to be sold at 183.6 at Laex (gain: 28.8/ton)
  • Laex: buying Consumer Goods at 121.8 to be sold at 140 at Fala (gain: 18.2/ton)

This makes a total gain of 47/ton per trading round trip between two systems only 6.64 ly away. Couldn't find a better trading route atm.

Buying battle weapons for a hundred odd bucks in Epsilon Eridani... then selling them for 200 on the black market in Sol system. Some of the bulletin board "black markets" are police traps, so you need to be careful but legit commerce isn't NEARLY as profitable as smuggling.

Best I've come across so far is buying Nerve Gas legally from Fahogre [2,1,20] for $235.85 and selling it illegally on the bulletin board at Essethla [1,0,17] for $492.90.

That's a profit of $257.05 per ton!

As NeuralKernal mentioned above, you can get caught by the rozzers (by selling at one of their traps), but they only fine you about $750 for the first offence and about $1500 for the second, so be sure to have that cash on you to pay them off on your first trip. On your second trip you'll know where to sell so you won't have any more problems. I swapped my Cobra MkIII for a Stardust just to soak up a few trips worth at a higher tonnage (making about $16K per round trip) and then bought a new Cobra and went off again a lot richer.

BTW there isn't anything worth taking back to Fahogre from Essethla.

You didn't want to share your hard-won info, I see!

Oh, feel free - but do tell us the name of a trader who definitely isn't the police!

Oh I see what you mean - got to keep a little mystery heh heh - my advice would be take at least $2250 $1500 in cash :).

*EDIT ... actually seems to be ~$750 per trap. Seems I tried to sell illegal goods to the same trap twice (doh!) - second time cost me double!
