To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

What do you think of drug control and do you believe that marijuana should be legalized? What about other illegal drugs? Please share your thoughts here.
I could possible agree with legalizing them if people could use them responsibly. But since that won't happen I am just fine with keeping them illegal.
Well they are used for Medical use here in the UK for things like ME MS, the police/cops will still nick/arrest you but very unlikely to be sent down for it, unless you have tons of it on you 😕 never smoked it myself or cigs , hardly ever drink as well............ yes i know im boring 😯 🙄
Legalize them and then sit back and watch the fireworks.
On the other hand if they keep drugs illegal they should also ban coffee, tobacco and alcohol then we are fair.
I'm game I don't use any of that stuff 🙂
Tobacco and alcohol kills more than illegal drugs do. But will never go away because the governments love the tax money it receives from them. If the gov't truly cared about its citizens it would outlaw certain things... but when its beneficial they look the other way.
I guess I could change my thinking on this topic... I could accept legalizing drugs if all the governments of the world go and kill and jail every single farmer and dealer to stop all drug violence.
I voted all drugs should be legal.
You can never stop people using or doing what they want... therefor it should be regulated.
As it is, all the wrong people make money from this industry, the best thing a government could do would be to legalise it and control the development and sale of said goods. To ensure money is pumped back into the country.
thumbs up for you s2odan, i voted to for total freedom.
i know it will be rediculous in the first 20 or 30 years, it will take some time until a new generation comes up and simpy has no interest to kill themselfes with drugs in a short or long run.
and like s2odan said, there will be always a percentage of people using whatever drugs, likewise you can't get rid of hookers...
a drug free community is a lie, it's not possible.
then look at the backdraws of illegality, it produces crime and makes criminals rich.
i guess decision is easy after looking at that fafct.
i guess the simple reason why it's still not legal is, that a lot of people make profit of it, but are very respected persons in society...
different reason,
let's take a look at tobacco and why more and more young people start to smoke, even when governments put more and more effort in smoking prevention.
i guess that the governments send out the wrong signals, smoking is "cool" again, because it's a form of rebellion and young people like to be rebellic.
that's stupid somehow, but simply true, even i started to smoke because of that.
edit:
look at this guy, he worked for swiss government (quite a while ago) as jurist and smokes in a non smoker train compartment?
pure rebllion.
and finally imho, money is the most evil drug of all...
yes, you can't kill yourself when you are addicted to money, but "kill" other people and our beautyful pearl...
edit2:
there's a lot a "pot smoke" can tell about drugs, you can imagine...
i remembered a strange fashion in switzerland,
we have this tradition here, especially in the valley where i'm from, that boys of all ages do this "new years bell ringing".
means they march with large cowbells through the town at newyears morning to ring for new year, so far as good.
on this morning it is allowed to all boys who marched to smoke and drink, no matter what age they have...
it's tolerated because it's a swiss tradition, but i din't think that's really good.
I find it silly that most of the reason any country would have any drug be illegal would be the fact they can't make money controlling it. I think Mexico is actually socially ahead of many US policy's since they have decriminalized any amount of drug that could be considered for personal use, and only criminalize large amounts of anything when it's illegal. And better yet, when it comes to pharm-drugs, you're able to pick for yourself and buy many drugs without a prescription meaning if you knew the medical knowledge you could get tried and tested drugs instead of being led down the path of cure-all medicine the US is starting to get into.
I'd say it should be up to natural selection to sort them out, make it legal along with suicide... We all die of something, who's to say choosing that something should be illegal... Say choose the soylent green way out...
I am fairly lax on this topic since this stuff isn't an issue for me so I generally don't care if people do drugs or not, its their life not mine. But we probably would need to watch the whole environment as to make sure society as a whole doesn't get worse because of it. I think in some areas of the country things might get worse depending on the impact of the freedom to take whatever you want as long as you can pay for it. I think it should be distributed via a organized entity (not govt) and there should be a set quota amount you can attain in a month to not consider you a junky. Jut my thoughts, or maybe i'm getting to old <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
