Interesting as it has been announced that B5 will be returning to TV with JMS at the helm and that it will not be a simple remake of the original show.

Interesting...

Indeed - and not behind a paywall, apparently. B5 was streets ahead of other TV sci-fi series.

Probably my fav sci-fi series, hopefully with JMS in charge it will be as good the original although a lot will depend on the cast as the original had one of the best ensembled cast ever put together, Andreas Katsulas and Peter Jurasik are going to be a hard act to follow.

Probably my fav sci-fi series

Definitely my favourite! I think having Harlan Ellison as a creative consultant helped.

This is awesome news, that was one of my favorite shows at the time for multiple reasons. The story lines, actors, depiction of future technology... everything sat well with me.

In my opinion, Babylon 5 is the best sci-fi series in history. Yes, it may be secondary, in terms of presentation as a whole, but not only is not inferior to such luminaries of the genre as Star Trek but also surpasses them. Amazing actors, computer graphics, music ... I have some doubts about the new Babylon 5, but will see. If they reinvent this story that would be interesting, but just a remake would not get a success probably.

I agree I would not like to see just a straight remake of the original although having said that their are few things we never got to see in the original series such as the telepath war. Which IIRC was going to be part of season 5 along with the retaking of earth, which all got condensed into season 4 along with the shadow war when the thought they would not be renewed for another season.

Interesting video, not about the reboot but some project set in the current B5 universe which has been completed and should be out next year.

Looks like the reboot is off the table for now but we are going to get an animated film which sound interesting as seems to be a time traveller and dimension hopping story, with the surviving cast members and the other major cast members being recast.

Pick this up on Blu-ray and it's pretty good take on the show and I hope they do more of them.

Interesting that they are releasing a Blu-ray as I had read that they had lost all of the original CGI master for the effects shots a few years back and I wonder how they have got around this.
