To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Star Trek: Picard

I was smiling like crazy when I listened to this, we have no details on what exactly his role will be but he will be Jean-Luc Picard. So this is very exciting and makes me wonder if the latest Star Trek series isn't cutting it. I was able to watch the whole first season on my flight to the philippines and it wasn't that bad. I saw it back in April and I couldn't name one character in the show, so I guess you could say the series is forgettable. STNG was an amazing show and if they are able to bring back some of these epic characters or maybe even continue the TNG in some way I think it will be a hit, but only time will tell.

Yes, make it so! Will be great to see him back although I am still waiting to see even this new series as it has not been broadcasted yet where I live.
Also.....I can only hope this encourages Babylon 5 makes a return one day too as that was the only other show to ever to provide any competition to the Star Trek franchise bay in the day.
Remember this scene D1?

Haha, wow. I really need to watch B5 again those memories are starting to fade. I would like to see a lot of older scifi shows get a reinvention to new audiences.

Oh here is the full version of the video of the star trek reveal with Patrick Stewart... the best Captain of the enterprise btw 😉 Sorry Shatner 🙂

Which timeline are they using?.

Love to see something new from Babylon 5, but sadly with some of the main cast members now passed away, it maybe harder to do now.

It sounds like it will be a web series, I hope it will be on TV or Netflix but we will see. My guess is that it will be about his life after Nemesis, he looks like he is back on earth in his families winery.... so we will see if he gets back in the chair 🙂 Will also be interested if we will see any STNG cameos

It hasn't been firmly confirmed yet but there is talk that we might see Brent Spiner reprise his role of Data that would be a huge plus and boost in the ratings so they should definitely do this. Their chemistry was always great to watch on screen.

Ah Data and seven of nine, lets hope she the only one from the worst StarTrek series ever made, Voyager.

Hmm that video not work for you... its the official CBS youtube channel.... wonder if youtube does region locking or something like that?

Voyager wasn't the worst I didn't think, it had its moments. I haven't watched much of Star Trek Discovery but from what I have seen its not too impressive.

There was some talk that some more cast of STNG might be on ST:P but only time will tell. I hope Data/BE-4 will be a regular that would be a huge plus.

Just picked this up on DVD so will have a binge watch over the next few days and see what it's like, did it get renewed as I think I saw some where that it had been cancelled?.

They started filming in Nov 2020 for the second season, I haven't seen any of these episodes yet. Hope it comes to Netflix eventually.

The first season was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, but it's never a good sign when they start doing time traveller stories, especially if it the whole series, better when it just the odd episode.

Picked up the second series just before Christmas, but have only watched 3 episodes, not too impressed with this and it seems to sign posting a time travel story.

Looks like season 3 will be starting soon and from what I read it will be the last season of Picard so hopefully they wrap everything up 😉 I will probably pickup this box set up when its released since this hasn't hit Netflix yet.

Looks like they are sending the crew off in a good way. 😉 The special effects look great for a TV series. Maybe end of the year I will sign up for Prime again and binge watch the Picard series since its not on Netflix yet

So again I have picked this up on DVD and binge watched over the last week and bye god this is good and it's a must watch for any next generation fan. The only negative comment I have too make is the last episode is a bit of re run of Jedi with the Enterprise flying into a giant borg cube, guess the writers ran out of ideas.

One over nick pick is that in both this and Strange New Worlds the Enterprise should not fly like a fighter.

My son rented Paramount+ for a month and I binged this show and it was pretty good (especially it you are a generations fan), I think the show got better as it went along with the 3rd season being its best. They did a nice send off for the original cast.... and they possibly setup something for a future show around Jack and 7of9.

I would say its a watch especially if you watched all of the TNG series.

It was a big missed opportunity. I think the lesson here is that actors are awesome and do amazing things with characters but they don't always know better than the writers. Patrick Stewart got his vision of older Picard and I don't think it was true to the TNG character at all. It's so obvious the show should've been about wise-old diplomat Picard on a Galaxy-class-type ship being escorted from planet to planet solving the galaxy's problems. Ah well!
