It's coming late 2020 for early access on Steam with a full release in 2021, its a ways off but if they deliver what they promise here it should be good.
"With its innovative concept of rapid space battles with rogue-like elements and exciting storytelling, EVERSPACE™was able to excite over a million PC and console players, but many of our fans and space game enthusiasts were still longing for an open world space shooter with classic RPG elements in the EVERSPACE™universe," says Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. "With EVERSPACE™ 2, we are making a big leap towards an open world space shooter, but will still remain true to our DNA and offer exactly what our fans love: a beautiful fantastic sci-fi world paired with uncompromising space action that gets down to business right away".
I bought Everspace with the DLC I just need to sit down and play it, now I have some time to play through it before the sequel comes. 😉 That pre-alphaa trailer looks great btw!
Looks like a winner, one thing I found with Ever Space was that I tend to only play it in short burst, maybe a half a hour or a hour at the most. So expanding the game into a more open world game sound good.
Not too crazy about having the same controls as Ever Space as in having to keep the "W" key pressed down to move forward, granted it did work well in the first game so just have to see what it like in this one.
Nice to see the leading target reticule there as well.
Bit of a surprise but they have launched a Kickstarter for the second game did not see that coming. bad news is they seem to say that they will be keeping the same controls as Ever space. Which means keeping the bloody "W" key pressed down to go forward, instant fail in an open world game.
Some odd reason I cant link to the Kickstarter page so just go through their YouTube page.
I have Everspace w/DLC and have yet to play it. But I will probably use my controller to play this one any way. They are not asking for a huge amount for the quality of game they are making so I see them making it.
Here is a twitch stream of the Everspace 2 pre-alpha
NO EGS EXCLUSIVE
Finally, we have noticed that since our last Kickstarter, things have changed quite a bit. Due to broken promises from indie devs all the way to AAA publishers, it is probably no exaggeration to say that trust in developers is at an all-time low, especially in regards to Epic Games Store exclusives of titles that were originally (co)funded on Kickstarter.
Ironically, one of the main reasons why we are doing another Kickstarter is to double-down on our promise that EVERSPACE 2 will launch on Steam first, no matter what. Just in case there are still any doubts, you might want to read an official interview on Gamesindustry.biz why Steam is and will be our most important digital games storefront.
Not sure if this is a longer version of the vid D1 posted as it two hours long, as I've not watched them myself yet.
Another long vid, this time gameplay, I think.
Another vid, this time a short one about the players ship, 100+ according to the vid text, bit of an over kill there and can't help thinking we going to see a lot of repetition.
The Everspace 2 kickstarter ends in 10 days and they are about 170k short, will be interesting to see if they make it?

Here is a developer stream which a dev answers gamers questions:
... installing Everspace "1" right now (still haven't tried it).

I need to do that too, I haven't played it yet either.... to many games too little time. But I will admit that the developers are definitely improving upon the first game, hope they keep it up regardless of the outcome of the kickstarter. Because they can build it while in early access on steam (like SPG3 is doing)

Yes IMHO that's pretty much the same idea indeed, without the "goal" issue. Anyway they seem to have already invested a lot of effort on the project, so giving up is probably not a possibility at all. Also considering the dev team, 500k looks like about 6 months of operation: it's significant but hopefully not vital.
one thing I found with Ever Space was that I tend to only play it in short burst
It's gorgeous, and the [mouse + keyboard] controls feel surprisingly very pleasant to me. But indeed the game's pace is very fast and the default zero velocity makes it essentially a first person shooter in space IMHO. So... I'm afraid I'm just too old for this ! ?
Haha I have been noticing that slowly as I play games in my steam library that I am slowly getting to slow to play some games ? I just stopped playing battlefield or call of duty style of games cause my son just wrecks me and I kinda rage quit ?
I think I can still hang with the quick space shooter, thanks for the heads up on the controls D.C. maybe I will make this one the next game I will try. I have to admit I do like mouse/keyboard or gamepad controls. I have been leaning away from trying to play fast paced games with a flight stick
Still got about 100K to go and four days to get it, although I would be surprised if they don't get it.
They met their goal, congrats Rockfish Games! ? Looks like we will be seeing a Everspace 2 soon.
I like to know when it's going to hit Steams early access, if they are going that way?.
Two hour vid with the dev talking about the games, not watched it myself as I don't have the time, might be some thing interesting if you have the time to dig through it.
Another two hour long stream, cant be bothered to watch it and they should make a 5 min highlight version of it.
🙂 I will preview this when I get home. But I did read the other day that they are delaying early access until December 2020. It was slated for September for early access.
Two hours, cant be bothered watching that ? anyhow they have steam page now. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1128920/EVERSPACE_2/
They released a small trailer covering planetside combat
What I want to know is how do you get from space to the planet, it not made clear in the video as to weather it is a seamless transition or it just mission based. Theirs a hint in this video that it maybe seamless but they just don't say, will have to ask the question on the Steam forums now.
Looks like they are still using the crappy FPS movement where you have to keep the "W" key pressed down to move forward.
Ok had an answer back on Steam and was pointed to this video, look around time stamp 103 and you can see that you can target a point on a planet and fly towards it. It not seamless as you can see that theirs a white loading screen covering the transition from space to atmosphere, hopefully that will be improved by the time the game launches.
Did remind me a bit of the way that the Tomorrow war did it but they did without any loading screens and theirs was a seamless transition, you just could not fly outside of the path down to the planet.
Yeah in the trailer I posted last night it seemed like it was a load to go to planet, and your clip definitely proves it. It breaks immersion a little with that 🙁 I still need to find time to play Everspace 1, but I would probably play this with a controller if I have to constantly hold keys down for play this.
