To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Don't think anyone mention this before.
Not much info about it and no website, think it will probably be an indie game.
like the ship modular system. 😎
Heres the blur from the YouTube vid says about the game.
Very early pre-alpha gameplay.
This project is being developed by myself and another, very talented programmer. The goal for the game is real time tactical battles with detailed damage model. We have many plans and ideas we would like to see included such as randomly generated areas and missions, 4x light elements, highly customizable ships, that are built using a modular system, every ship is a collection of smaller parts. Some ship types we want to include are Fighters, Frigates, Cruisers, Destroyers Carriers and Capital ships. Factions and Economy.
Check the YouTube site as theirs a couple of other vids about the game.
blockwars is another minecraft in space type idea looks ok still u would need to finish the game
Another vid Kinetic void
Ah ramming speed more games should have ramming speed. 😀
Hey all,
Sean 'LumberingTroll' here, was surprised to find an entry for KV here! (I'm new around these parts obviously)
I do not have an official website for Kinetic Void yet, however I have been keeping our IndieDB entry up to date http://www.indiedb.com/games/kinetic-void
I will keep an eye on this thread/forum as well if there are any questions id be happy to answer, we are being pretty open about the development process.
Oh and I've been keeping the dev blog videos updated on a weekly basis, every Friday night.
Welcome to the forum LumberingTroll
Interesting idea going with the detail ship systems and damage, will the crew play a part in how well the ship systems works or repair themselves.
It is planned that crew will be important, ship classification is based on total mass, with every tier, increasing the classification of your vessel. The larger the ship, the more crew and officer slots your ship will have, but that also means the upkeep of the ship goes up.
Update 7.5
I really liked your update 7 video, that is some great stuff with the flight avoidance.
Adding Kinetic Void to the game list.
So a little bit of an announcement, in our attempts to gear up to run a Kickstarter, we will be hosting a free to access Ship Builder demo, that will allow anyone to build ships, and launch them into a test flight scene to get a basic feel for those two components of our game, we expect this to be ready in around two weeks, maybe a little longer, depending on productivity.
Excellent news about the demo Lumbering troll. 😎
Remember to give us a shout here when you get the kickstater up and running.
Will do for sure! We are pushing along nicely on the ship builder demo, hope to have it out in around 8 - 9 days.
Kinetic Voids website is active, though not quite finished.
Update 8 is live!
Excellent vid Lumbering Troll look forward to seeing the demo 😎
Couple of question for you, as you have a colour picker will you be able to add text to the ship and custom decals/graffiti to them.
You may have mention this already but can the ships modules size be changed.
Oh and big will the demo be.
Really nice ship builder LumberingTroll, will be nice to play with this in a few weeks. Do you plan on releasing small equipment, hull and weapons packages to add more ship building capabilities or will the user be able to create their own models to add to the tool?
Also on the website, I know I am not an authority on website design but I thought I would point this out anyway, on the forums itself the color scheme is off that very light grey or white needs to go for the every other category. This makes it hard to read personally, you should be able to change this in the style CSS of the theme your using. But website looking good.
Oh btw, updated your title to show your the dev.

The sizes to not change dynamically but there will be 5 - 7 tiers of module sizes. The demo will just be for the builder, and to test fly your ship at this point we are still pretty early into the game, only 10 weeks in development.

We do plan on releasing equipment and addons to the game for free post release, but we also plan to update the builder demo as we work. There will be a point that we will do expansions/DLC but it will be large content upgrades, not the typical weapon packs that are the norm recently. Yeah I noticed that on the forums just haven't had the chance to correct it yet. The site theme I made, but the forum template is a cookie cutter to get it up. and thanks for the title!
Update 9 is live!
The Shipyard Demo is live!
The install now includes an updater, will make staying with the current build of the demo easy on everyone!
Nice one LumberingTroll will have a look over the weekend 😀
Updated today, v0.14 lots of changes.
Update 10!
Version 0.0.15.1 is out, new User interface, color profiles, and new modules!
Not sure how I missed posting here, but on the 30th we launched our Kickstarter!
Sioux Falls, South Dakota-(April 30, 2012) Badland Studio has launched its Kickstarter for Kinetic Void, our 3D space flight sim sandbox for Windows and OSX. Through Kickstarter.com we hope to raise $60,000 to cover software licensing fees and living costs during development.
Our Kickstarter can be located here. http://kck.st/KniuPR we are available for interview, questions, or otherwise feel free to contact me any time at either Sean@BaldandStudio.com
Kinetic Void is a 3D space flight adventure with a focus on unprecedented levels of customization and enjoyable simulation. Our in game ship builder allows players to modularly construct their ship piece by piece. Each module can be destroyed individually and if a ship's engines are destroyed, it will be left drifting. If the hull piece containing a reactor is knocked out, everything that reactor powered will be useless (unless another reactor can pick up the slack). While in space flight, interactions between objects are governed by the physics engine. Running into an asteroid at high speed will damage your ship and could send you careening off into space. Slowly approaching the asteroid and then throttling up will allow you to accelerate the asteroid. And if that asteroid just happens to be heading toward a space station... well, the results should be spectacular. But be careful who you anger. The faction who owned the station will remember your little stunt and may be gunning for you in the future. On the other hand, their enemies may appreciate your resourcefulness and be more open toward you.
We are still early in our development cycle, the finished game will feature a procedurally generated galaxy. When starting a new game the player will be able to adjust the galaxy in many ways including its size and the number of factions that populate it. Gameplay can include combat, politics, trade & economic manipulation, manufacturing & resource acquisition; it’s up to the player to decide how they wish to experience Kinetic Void.
At this time there is a playable demo of the shipyard that allows the player to create their own ship, customize it and launch it into a test sector to acclimate to Kinetic Voids controls. The demo can be located on our official website:
