Was the English patch ever released?

Think I will wait for Gamergate sale as I ready own English and German copies of the game.

while the german patch 1.3.0 is easy to find, I see nowhere the latest English patch 1.3.0B to download. But according to the link here below, the Gamersgate version is already patched to 1.3.0B.

If all fails, what you can do is:

Unpack all the scripts in Parkan2_scripts.rar from my upload and use a software for mass-rename; you must take all extensions "txt" away. Then copy them in your Parkan2 game folder and overwrite. Start the game and look at the version information. As these have been converted in 2008, long after the release, chances are they come from the newest version.

A good software for mass-rename is JV16 Power Tools.

Cheers Xenons I will have a try at doing that later in the week, did notice that the gamer gate download is only 650 MB so I may well just buy it when I see it in a sale.

Actually this Mod is still under testing

What it does...

You can now defend your colonies against pirate attacks. Prior of this mod, you have only 30 seconds to fly to your colony which was almost impossible. I have changed this, but it's still a challenge to defend your colony, don't expect easy things! All what makes this game harder is welcome 😎

Instructions:

Go in your game folder ...Gamelocal and replace the file with the Mod's one. Do not make a backup in the game folder otherwise it will NOT work!

Upload is:

For those who are interested, that's what I did:

1)

decompress the lua file m_local-c01.lua placed in Gamelocal folder.

2)

Changed the value

G_MISSION_RUNOUT_TIME = 30

Changing the value so that the mission can be completed but still has a challenging time. If you are in another system you will take about 2 minutes because you must fight against pirates first.

Changed to:

G_MISSION_RUNOUT_TIME = 120

You may change this to any value, but keep things interesting at least!

3)

Change the filename extension from txt to lua.

Parkan 2 video walkthrough by russian gamer: 

Parkan and Parkan II are games which magically attract me on a regular basis.

I now have finished a mod compilation making the game harder - or easier, it's your choice.  There are only few mods for this game. A russian game fan, Rusya, has published a "SuperMod" long time ago which indeed works with the latest english patched version 1.30B. But I have decided to separate the Super Weapons and other things to be chosen by the player, also adding my mod above.

All this will shortly be uploaded under PARKAN2_MOD_COMPILATION.ZIP

Description of the different packages included:

Fast Hero 3D

Double speed for the hero on ships and on planets, increased reactor for your Battlesuit which allows you to jump much higher and for a longer time. Don't try to reach orbit 🙂

Contrary to Rusya's SuperMod, you don't get the best equipment right on start: you will need to upgrade your Battlesuit. But all values are doubled for a more fluid game.

This mod especially is a workaround for the framerate decrease inside your own ship (over time movements get slower and slower until you change the ship).

Faster_Stronger Bots

Robots inside ships and on planets together with Warbots move now 2x faster and also have their firerate doubled. As Rusya says: not everyday will be sunday...

Together with the Fast Hero 3D above the game now is really a challenge where you constantly must move and watch your Shields and Hull. Good luck :haha:

Better Colony Defense

This is an addition of mine. It's a new version of the "Improved Colony mod" above where I have changed the SOS mission complete time from 120 to 350. You now have time to read the message and head towards your colony to defend it.

If you don't use the "Removed Colony Limit" below, you can only have a maximum of 15 colonized planets, afterwards pirates will attack your planets.

Tip: Some colonies are worth to be defended because the longer you are away, the more fuel you will find when returning. The rescue mission is also rather hard and challenging.

Removed Colony Limit

Rusya has included this in his SuperMod: it removes the 15-colonies limit. You can now rule the galaxy if you want.

Super_Weapons

A very powerful laser weapon and a modified missile are included. One-Shot-One-Kill. For those who want an easier game. You get it in your inventory right from the start.

MOD_DEINSTALL_ALL

With one copy-paste, this will uninstall all mods and revert your game to the 1.30B original version.

All mods above can be used alltogether without clashing between them, preferably with the latest 1.30B version (russian or English). I have not tested them with lower versions, so be warned that there may be some trouble with lower versions, although they may work.

If you want a harder and more fluid game, I recommend using the 3 first mods mentioned above. For an easier run, don't use the "Faster_Stronger Bots" and eventually use the Super Weapns.

One important thing about a bug in the game:

The 1.30B version has eradicated most of the bugs, but 1 remains. I won't spoil the storyline but just tell you:

Well after the game start, you will get a story mission named "Hunt on Hegemout".

Do not display this mission by clicking in the mission list, otherwise the game will crash. To know about the mission, READ THE LOG instead. It's the same, you don't miss anything and you will know what to do.

Parkan 2 now available in Steam. I don't know if any of mods will work with such version.
