To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Hello SSC!

I'm Jeno and am a co-developer of a recent space game called SpaceBit. I do most of the item art as well as some sounds. This week, I will also join Ben, the project lead, with the programming. One of our players made a great reccomendation to post on this website. I feel ashamed that I hadn't discovered this forum before, but am very glad that I now have. SpaceBit is a top down survival game in which you do much more than just fend off the zombie hordes at night. Currently, there is an extensive resource mining and item crafting system in place. You can also create a spaceship and conquer other, completely different, randomly generated worlds. If you are interested, definately check out the recently revamped website: http://www.desura.com/games/spacebit/ If you won't take my word for it 🙂 . However, if you wish to support us the best, you might better refrain from buying on Desura, since we don't get almost half of the money you pay... Anyway, I hope I can call many of you spacebittians soon!

Take care,

Jeno

Sounds like a mighty interesting project. And unique, too- I'm not sure I've heard of a top down building game before. So would this have some simularities to our beloved block building game? 🙂

The concept of building and flying spacecraft is also pretty enticing, how are the dynamics of such a task handled? Is it physics based, arcade, sim, is there power managment etc?

Hey there!

thanks for your interest in spacebit 🙂 We are indeed making it our #1 priority to be unique and I believe we are doing that too 😛 You could indeed spot some similarities between the two but I prefer not to compare the two 😛

Spaceships do have a realistic-ish flight in terms of physics. Though still in early stages, some of the things we will do with spaceships are for example: Build too heavy a craft, it won't take off if there isn't enough engine power. Engines and other parts can get destroyed too! There will be fuel and power managment on board as well as weapons and their ammunition =) And more to be unveiled soon ^.^
