A new space combat game from Escape Hatch Entertainment. Garry M. Gaber is the man behind that company, a 3d artist who worked with Lucasarts.
It's Kickstarter page, also mentioned in a previous post:

Very interesting, I would have liked more of a description of what was really planned for the game because the written description is still vague. But from the description it sounds like you will be able to do both ground and space based combat from ship. $150k isn't a huge amount but it is a nice sum of money, I hope the reach their goal because it will be nice to see what is created. I think any in-game screenshots would go a long way to help perk interest.
That's definitely something to keep an eye on.
You have to give credit to developers being propelled by genuine enthusiasm, making their dream games because they want to, not because they have to.
Hi all - thank you for the interest in Starlight Inception. We were just invited by Geraldine to come visit the forum and I'm happy we are here.
We would love to answer any questions and are happy to gather your feedback for the team.
Starlight Inception is a realistic 1st person / 3rd person free-roaming space combat experience. It has a unique blend of action with an involving storyline. Features include ship based combat both in space and on planets and moons, interplanetary exploration, and multiplayer dogfighting. The economy is based on accomplishing mission goals and is measured in command points (or prestige). The more command points you accumulate, the more currency you have to trade for better fighters, better weapons, more equipment and other items. The game isn't all about combat though - you also have the ability to salvage, rescue individuals and take them aboard, and engage in other non-combat objectives while blowing things up in space and over planets.
Thank you again!
Melissa, VP Escape Hatch Entertainment
So will your pilot be able to get out of the ship ❓
As you say it's "free roaming" will the player be flying for different groups. ❓
How do yo move from star system to star system hope you not using jumpgate which just jump to the next system as in the Xgames. ❓
I like Mr Gaber Space 1999 eagle model he has in the background of the his vid 😀
Look like their not going to make their funding goal as they are short about $100 000 and only have 9 days to go.
Escape Hatch Entertainment should have done a little more self promotion before starting the kickstarter, this way people would have known about what the game is and what they planned on doing with it. With the goal of over $100k that is pretty sizeable sum and I just think they could have made it with a little bit more interaction with various communities, did a few Q&A's and just continue to work silently on the project until there was some decent fan base around the game and then I would think they could make their goal.
Hi all - we wanted to let you know that we posted a Q&A video on our Kickstarter update ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/732 ... ontm/posts) as well as on youtube (
). This helps answer a lot of questions about gameplay. We would be happy to answer any questions as well.
@ PINBACK: As far as the pilot question - we are still fleshing out the details but we are looking into that as well as other cool possibilities.
@ DARKONE: You are correct that we should have started our PR campaign before starting Kickstarter. We just felt the time was now with Kickstarter so we went for it. But as we say in our Q&A video, we have learned a lot. However ideally we should have been generating press for 6-8 months prior. We have been out on the forums, doing questions via email, local newspaper, and International press. However the larger places have all but ignored our requests. We are certainly working hard at getting the word out as are our wonderful supporters and backers. We are tweeting, Facebooking, interviewing, just about whatever we can do! If you have any suggestions, we are open!
Thanks again!

hi there! I have just donated $30 for the noble cause! 🙂
Just a simple question, but should the campaign fail (I certainly hope it doesn't!) do you have a plan B to assure the completion and release of this gem?
Same here. 😀 Keep your fingers crossed
Thank you CaptainKal! We have 7 days left and we just crossed $60k. Let's keep it going! We can still do this!
Same question as already asked if the Kickstarter fails do you intend to continue development of the game then redo another kickstart at some point in the future.
I just donated to this worthy project yesterday. I pre-ordered a PS Vita and am a huge fan of classic space sims like Wing Commander and X-Wing. So, it's like this project was made for me. I really hope it gets funded! $78,000+ and climbing. Fingers crossed!
Andrew
They are just a little over half way there and three days left, that is a tall order but not impossible. It is very hard for a new IP to get funding like this (over $100k) because no one usually knows the team or the game. If anything this was a nice advertising boost for Starlight Inception and now the team can work on getting some in-game screenshots and gameplay videos together, even in a alpha state this helps a game get more attention and hype because the community just isn't taking your word that the game will be epic. Then re-try the kickstarter and I think they will make funding no problem.
That's just my .02 of course 🙂
$102,000+ and only 33 hours left
Congrats Escape Hatch Entertainment for getting Starlight Inception funded 🙂 Another great space game is going to be created. Lets keep it moving, on to the next game to get funded.
PS3 version on the way. http://eschatch.com/news/news.html
Thank you Escape hatch Entertainment, I may finally be able to play a space game on my PS3 before the PS4 comes out <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Starlight Inception back with a teaser vid and a bit of hype.
This is a more updated version of the trailer
It's looks a bit like the StarWars console games that came out for the original XBox/PS2.
Escape Hatch Entertainment’s has released a beta version of the game for it's kickstart backers http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/9/prweb11085900.htm
Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 04, 2013
Escape Hatch Entertainment, LLC today announced that Starlight Inceptionâ„¢, the successful Kickstarter project, has entered closed beta as of Friday to exuberant raves from backers and prepurchasers.
A Kickstarter backer had this to say: “This game is fantastic. I can’t wait for the full release.†Jason Forster said: “This is one really good sim…can’t wait for more to try.â€
Asked about the Sony Playstation Vita Beta, Garry Gaber stated, “We are putting the finishing touches on our Beta submission to Sony this week. We anticipate making this available to our backers and pre-purchasers soon after.â€
Escape Hatch is dedicated to producing a triple A product and making good on their promise of backer involvement. “We’ve really been diligent in putting the player at the center of our design – we have the ability to rapidly iterate changes and to respond to user feedback and bug reports quickly. This buys us a much better game…a much better experience for the player… in the long run, and we are super excited to hear players’ reactions,†said Garry Gaber, project leader and owner of Escape Hatch Entertainment.
Starlight Inception offers a cutting edge space simulation with a single player campaign, a single player casual mode revolving around defending your mothership (a sort of “3D Tower Defense-type game,†according to Gaber), and a robust multiplayer mode which includes several battle arenas for spacefighter pilots to flex their dogfighting skills. There are over twenty crafts to choose from with configurability before and during battle.
“You can outfit the ships with weapons and equipment in the hangar bay, then adjust energy nodes while in combat to fine tune your ship’s performance,†said Gaber.

The video appears to be out of focus, Space Game Junkie has a better video of a walk through of a mission http://www.spacegamejunkie.com/previews/starlight-inception-beta-impressions/
This game is on Steam early access now, if anyone is interested ... it doesn't seem to support a joystick, though. You have to use a mouse or a xbox controller. Well, I guess you could manually bind they keys to the joystick buttons, ofcouse

Out on PS Vita in December http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/29/starlight-inception-coming-to-ps-vita-in-december/
There are a lot of Vita specific features in the game — we make use of the accelerometer, the gyroscope, the front touch pad, and the sticks. Starlight Inception feels great on Vita.

Did not know that you could wonder around the mother ship in this game.
