To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

I've put Transcendence up on Greenlight and I'd love to have your support:

Transcendence is a game of space combat and exploration set in a vast and dangerous galaxy. It was inspired by Nethack and Star Control II, and has a rich setting, procedurally generated star systems, and robust modding capabilities.

Please let me know what you think!

Will do if Steam lets me.

Is it still a free download or is it a paid one on Steam?.

It's still a free download. You can try it at: http://transcendence.kronosaur.com

If we get Greenlit, then we will develop a package on Steam that bundles the two paid expansion (Corporate Command and Eternity Port) and sell it.

Transcendence deserves to been seen by more people so I hope it gets greenlit for you soon George, just for the simple fact that you have been supporting this game for so long. Any plans to put Transcendence on Android and iOS? I think that is where you could make some money, since the game is pretty fleshed out so not many bugs and its really just porting the game (if it can be done easily). Plus 2D games play relatively easily on a tablet as well.

Long term, yes, I think you're absolutely right: porting to Android/iOS (and Linux, of course) would be good for the game.

But it's unfortunately very hard to port. The engine is pretty complex at this point.

Moreover, you'd be surprised at how hard it is to make money on Android/iOS. The market is so saturated that it's impossible to get noticed without a large marketing budget. Even Steam has better discoverability (due to their new Curators feature). Most people I've talked to suggest building up a large player base before porting to iOS.

Thanks for your support! I really appreciate it!
