To all SSC Station occupants

Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.

Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

It should be all set now but if it shows up again in your UCP you can disable the popup or PM's under the Download tab in the UCP.

Update 9/28:

- Added a new BBcode button to your Post/Reply window. You should now see a button called 'HSimg', what this does is now take any image you link to in a post and thumbnail it but also keeps the resolution of the original image. Not like the 'Img' bbcode which crops the pic automatically and you cannot see the pic in a bigger resolution.

So remember to use this tag for when you are linking to an image. Especially if it is a larger image.

Code in action:

Using the 'HSimg' bbcode tag. as you can see it creates a thumbnail that you can now click on to show images true size.

[hsimg] [/hsimg]

Using the 'Img' bbcode tag

See the difference now 🙂 Have fun with this one.

Update 3/18:

Been a long time since my last update.

- Added new forums for X32i: Redemption and Pioneer

- Updated links page

- Enabled the Gallery for everyone. Enjoy.

Note:

For the gallery you will need to create a new login to upload and comment on pics. I put the gallery on a separate database to help with site performance and to lessen the risk of total loss if something should happen to SSC.

Hey Everyone

This weekend I will be removing the Arcade mod from the site since I don't see people really using it. And another mod people don't see.

Doing this for my upcoming site update and trying to get the DB in shape for the upgrade so I can have as minimal issues as possible. Hopefully if I do everything right people won't even notice I did anything. Or if anything you might get a page errors or something while I am doing it if people try to access certain things while I am uploading the fixed files.

I will more than likely do this in the late evening hours to have the least impact on users.

Also, over the next few weeks I will be parsing the forums and deleting old posts that are really not needed and renaming some titles to help with people finding information of certain topics and maybe even combining like posts. I have noticed there is several posts about the same game and things like that. We'll see....

So if anyone does have any new feedback or improvements they might want to see for SSC please let me know now while I am building the changes and testing them 🙂

Thanks

-D1-

Outstanding, D1. A little moderation will improve site organization.

Please don't be afraid to move threads to proper locations, either.

I will probably make a new forum 'miscellaneous' to put posts that don't really fall in any category and to talk about topics outside of space games. Thanks everyone for the feedback on the site and it will all be included in the next update, promise 🙂

Remove the Arcade?

Or perhaps I misunderstood, (mod)?

I hope you wont remove the arcade but it could use some trimming and cleaning up.

Well, it is your site of course ,) so I shan't tell you what to do.

I will just go and cry a bit in the corner for a while, then return as usual.

What do you mean by this Bouitaz? Can you give me some specifics on this?

I just looked at stats, which was 388 total plays in 1.5yrs. That's not even on game play a day. but I can keep it and add to the game pool. I just didn't even bother with it because no one really seemed to be playing it all that much and got no feedback on it at all. So if people really want it in there I will keep it and update the games in it.

There has been no updates to this arcade (mod) since i installed it so any issues I might have to custom code something. But I have used this before and the arcade itself usually runs fine.

But please post your thoughts on this.

What I meant by cleaning is that at least one game does not work (rescue someting),

and others are perhaps a bit crude or, how to put it, less than stellar work.

The Arcade is usually played when one first arrives I've noticed,

and adds to the whole "flying thing" you've got going here.

It could perhaps be modified to work in a community with competitions and such,

but would probably involve way to much work, so that is a no go.

However, when one has read all there is one can always relax with some casual games.

Unless it takes too much to maintain, space, or integration problems,

then I see no harm in letting it be?

I am of course only one voice, and as I said earlier,

you can go ahead and delete it (if no one else feels like me),

I will just morn some, then move on.

They usually say that if no one complains, then you are doing things right, you know. ,)
