To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

This I thought would be a nice poll to see where people stand in general when it comes to a type of game which do you pick most frequently. I lean towards a great adventure game myself and this is also nice developer info to have as well. So feel free to list your games of choice and your reasoning behind your choice.
Although I do enjoy a good RPG and 4x'er, Sims just reach the parts that other gaming genres don't reach. Shooters I can take or leave, some adventures though I had a lot of fun from eg: The Longest Journey. But for long term appeal in my view, Sims are the outright winner <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_e_smile.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I'm somewhat of a monomaniac when it comes to games. I've played plenty over the years, from the primitive to the flashy DX type, but it's Elite and its clones that I always go back to. A nostalgic pic of my career in Elite Plus... heh!
I voted RPG. But I'd play any game if I consider it to be fun.
Hmm... I prefer simuations and Action (Cockpit only) games. Why? Because the player has 100% participation in what is going in the game's world.
I'm annoyed while playing 4x games (jeez, 1 turn later i the whole enemy armada is in my doorstep <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//icon_mad.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> especially I'm RTS fan), adventure games are too little bit slow for me, FPS and TPS games I'm playing from time to time as RPG.
I'm still remember Star Control II: Ur-Quan Masters (Adventure Action Hybrid) and StarLancer. Where are the style of these games in today's games?
im 4x. simulation comes next
None of them, mime would be a cross between a simulation like Frontier an adventure like megatraveller (think Mass Effect for a more upto date game) and GTA for the 3rd person environments.
I like a good adventure, which I thought more of Mass Effect 1&2 to be an adventure than a shooter. I guess as I age I like to play twitch shooters but my reaction times have slipped over the years so a slower pace isn't that bad. Like I think Black Prophecy at times is to dis-orientating. But I agree with s20dan, I will play anything IF it has the features I am looking for )or least some of them).
I can't tell. I currently play Wargame:European Escalation and some space sims. What am I supposed to click?
I play all types of games and collect games ive got a big hoard, but have a special place in my heart for space games

Same here. Althought I have a soft spot for flight & space simulators (Just got the Amiga version of "Knight of the Sky" <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' /> <img src="' http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/public/style_emoticons//girl_crazy.gi f"' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':girlcrazy:' /> )
