Unofficial patch 1.3 released!

The latest version 1.3 of the Unofficial Patch was released on The Patches Scrolls:

It was renamed from Unofficial English Translation Patch to Unofficial Patch because it works on both Russian and English versions of the game. In fact it is planned that the next official patch for the English version from GFI will be based on it, so please report any critical issues, mission bugs or other suggestions.

Changelog:

Included English cutscene voice-overs, thanks jorgamesh and badmofo.

Corrected BKK drinker, Darkon race organizer and Norman quest bugs.

Added Postprocess folder to avoid ATI flickering, thanks sq_paradox.

Fixed merchants interaction window bugs and some money check typos.

Removed 5th ship engine and added flashlight, binoculars, smartlink.

Swapped HUD drug and medicine addictions and fixed perk conditions.

Fixed cargo merchants exploit and unlocked belongings box at prison.

Added infos for non-definable controls to appropriate help windows.

Corrected loading and menu videos that slowed loading and menu down.

Continued improving translation, names and similar inconsistencies.

Fixed Ridinger bandit faction change and improved the BBK mediators.

Merged with 1.1 patch and enhanced the phrasing, thanks to badmofo.

Changed Soothsayer quest line and fixed damaged ship mission issues.

Restored some unused music pieces when in space, thanks to player1.

Wesp5, we already discussed in old forums that and sound overrides must only be packed with 7-zip, otherwise they wonćt work, if unpacked by someone in different time-zone.

I cant get the sound to work I get the same response as above and I dont understand how to make it work either please explain wesp5

I have the russian version

I have unzipped it with both winrar then when that didnt work right I tried 7zip like you suggested still no go.

I had the same problem. To temporarily solve it, I have kept the files from the process I described following is this thread:

toward the end of the discussion. I also made sure I made a backup of these particular directories and files before using v.1.3:

Directories:

Postprocess

Sounds

Video

Files:

precursors.ico

resource.qrc

videooptions.ini

When I got the same error as mentioned above, I simple restored the three directories and the .ico and .ini files, but kept the v1.3 resource.qrc file. It seems to be working, because I noticed that starting a new game I received the new smartlink device which was never available before. Hopefully, this is just a temporary fix until Wesp5 uploads the fix v1.3 compressed file. Basically, if you made a backup of the Sounds and Video directories, just restore them over the ones from v1.3.

By the way, what does the smartlink device do and how do you access it via the keyboard?

Haven’t they always been in the game under the F key to use the flashlight icon and the B key for the binoculars or it just some thing you have added to the inventory.

Ditto about the smartlink and does it do anything.

Are the save game compatible or do you have to start a new game. ❓

I just added them to the inventory to show off the icons and because I didn't make sense that you don't have them.

That's also just for show to represent an unused icon ;).

As far as I know you don't have to start a new game.

As for the sound issues, have any of you problems with the GamersGate version? I can't believe the RAR archive is the issue, because I use it myself and it works fine. Can any of you post the time-stamp of the extracted file here?

Wesp5, trust me. I debugged the issue for quote some time in old forums. Both rar and zip are culprit.

They just don't save file modification time properly. I mean, it works for the one who packed the files, but if unpacked in any other time zone, times will be changed for a few hours, and files will not work in the game, since it requires exact same time and date, as original sound files files it replaces.

Only 7-zip preserves this data properly.

P.S.

For everyone having issue, until Wesp5 fixed the issue, delete your sound folder, and then go to ModDB database, and download Space Music Restoration and English voices for cutscenes. Files are packed with 7-zip, but rar will unpack them without problems.

I tried the new version of the patch but got the same error code as ryuuseki posted.

I then removed the sound file from the main folder and game loads in but with no music and no sound effects.

Is there some place this sound folder is ment to be placed. ❓

The menus screen seems to be ok no jerkiness but I could not see any new icons for the touch ect.

Are the tp –missions, objects, radio files ment to placed some where or are they just placed in the main folder ❓

I think I may be putting some of these files in the wrong place. ❓

It needs to be compressed as 7z archive, in order to not get issues with file times.

The main folder should be correct and it you remove the sound folder the defaults should play.

You only get the new items when starting a new game, either from the start or on Goldin...

Oops, they don't belong into the release at all, they are just intended for my internal use ;).

My sound Issue turned out to be my monitor speakers had some how being turned off without me realizing it. 😳

I have now created an installer. Can someone of you with the crash please verify as fast as possible if this one is working, so I could try to update the official file on The Patches Scrolls?

The installer did not, as this was the one I tried first prior to .7z

When I used .7z the time stamps where off approximately 6 hours or so.

It's up and running now. Encountering a rendering issue where lights are showing up through geometry (nvidia card), not sure if that was happening prior to patch or not.

Issues still unresolved: Perks do not modify backpack capacity. I have had this error since installing.

Yes it the tpup13.7z one you posted at http://www.filefront.com/17898770/tpup13.7z

Cant download the installer at the moment will have a go in the morning.

I notice that Empire and DU reps now have a mediators topic in there conversations but Scrubby and the other guy didn’t have any, do you have to start a new game to get it working.

This .7z compressed version also worked fine for me. Did not try the .exe, as in this case I prefer to have more control over the patch process.

Both Scrubby and Kasterley will only offer you to mediate after certain dialogue topics have been discussed...

I downloaded your installer version and this is the result I got

I will try the 7zip version next

update 7zip version works...but I only watched the first cut scene of the game

I just copied right over the installer verison.

The problem is the 7zip format is not usable at normal patches sites like The Patches Scrolls. Could you please retry with the installer? I updated it under the old link above...

Used the installer on a dummy file and it’s installed everything where it should be, checked it against the game folder so the installer should work.

Seen the conversation option for the citizens in Kasterley topics now but Scrubby still telling me to get lost with no other options.
