To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Looks like Egosoft is going to make like an ultimate collection of there games in one package that will also include some of the best player made additions to all the X games. This could be a real nice package for the X fan, especially since you won't have to try and track down some good mods 🙂
Personally since this X3TC is the conclusion to the series, I want to see what is next from Egosoft. They have to be planning something? If they can use their graphic engine and just tweak the current X3TC with some faster paced action and possible planet exploration it would be a hit. And of course simplify the interface a bit more.
Hello X-Space-pilots!
As you may have noticed EGOSOFT is planning to release a Superbox containing all the X-series titles along with lots of content made by fans of the series. Before I start listing all the content we'd like to see in this box, let me describe the purpose of the box and why we thought it was a good idea to publish it.
First of all I should explain that "Superbox" is more of a working title for this unofficial project than a fixed name. We haven't decided yet what name we will give it; as soon as we have made a decision you will be the first to know!
As you probably know, the 10-year story of the X-series came to a conclusion with X3: Terran Conflict. Over the years many fans of the series have come to these forums and many are still here in the community. They are sure to remember the humble beginnings of this story with Kyle William Brennan and his ship, the X-perimental. In X-Beyond the Frontier he lost contact with Earth as a result of a terrible accident involving his jumpdrive and had to fight against massive threats. In X-Tension he recovered a lost prototype ship belonging to the Paranid. In X2: The Threat and X3: Reunion his son, Julian Brennan, followed his footsteps and fought against more dangerous threats than his father could have ever done. In doing so he rescued millions of people in Omicron Lyrae and even made it possible to reconnect the X-Universe with the Sol system. In X3: Terran Conflict you had to maintain peace while the Kha'ak and the Xenon, the descendants of the Terraformers, continued to threaten not only the people of the X-Universe, but also the humans of the Sol system and of course you! This was the only way to grant both sides a peaceful future together.
All the games mentioned above will be in this special box, that much is for sure! But the games of the X-series also motivated many people to create expansions, write scripts, fan-fiction and many other things. To make this superbox worthy of the name, we are calling upon our trusted community to make suggestions of possible fan-made content to go into the box. The potential variety of the content is huge, so don't be hesitant when making your suggestions. This box shouldn't just be something from EGOSOFT for fans, but by fans for fans. You wrote many useful guides, tutorials and HowTo's that we'd also like to add to the content of the superbox. Tell us what you want to see in this box and we'll do our best to add it.
To keep an overview of the collected content we've decided to separate this request into five threads. The content we want is so huge that it would be easy to lose track if we collected it all in one thread.
So, we are separating the subject areas into the following categories:
* X-Universe
Here we are going to collect:
Tutorials, Guides, Tips, Tricks, HowTo's
Sector maps
Savegames (Follow this link for instructions)
Screenshots (i.e. as loadscreens)
We will look through all of this content and decide which to put into the box. We ask you to always post a link to the content you want us to include so that we don't have to spend too much time searching for it.
* X3: Terran Conflict - Scripts & Modding Forum
Here we will collect the following things:
Scripts
Mods
Scripting and Modding tutorials
AL-Plug-ins
MD-Missions
MD-Tutorials
Plug-ins & Tools
Ships (need to be installable with Cycrow's Ship Installer)
Please note that any scripts you suggest need to have an interface, so that they don't need to be executed via the Script Editor.
* X3: Reunion - Scripts & Modding Forum
Here we are collecting:
Scripts
Mods
Scripting and Modding tutorials
AL-Plug-ins
MD-Missions
MD-Tutorials
Plug-ins & Tools
Ships (need to be installable with Cycrow's Ship Installer)
Please note that any scripts you suggest need to have an interface, so that they don't need to be executed via the Script Editor.
* X2: The Threat - Scripts & Modding Forum
Here we will collect:
Scripts
Mods
Scripting and Modding tutorials
Plug-ins & Tools
AL-Plug-ins
Please note that any scripts you suggest need to have an interface, so that they don't need to be executed via the Script Editor.
* Creative Universe
Here we are collecting:
Fan-fiction
Wallpapers
Music
Regarding music titles, these must be fan-made rather than commercially released tracks that require licensing, and must also not already have been used in any of the games. Wallpapers should have X as a theme and not your favourite cars; the same goes for fan-fiction. Since we know your creativity knows no limits, anything not listed here is also allowed as long as it relates to X.
As you can see the box is turning into a really big project. EGOSOFT isn't just going to ask you for content, but will also be adding its own materials that will definitely throw you out of your pilot's seat! We want this superbox to be as big as possible so we are asking for your help in collecting good, helpful materials, and are looking forward to your suggestions.
Enjoy!
Any one know what happened to this boxset. ❓
Egosoft have mentioned there boxset apparently they have just realised that they can’t put copyrighted material in it. 😆
Aren't mods for a game technically property of the game maker? Really all they need is permission to distribute the mods. But it is profiting off them that is probably the issue. If that is an issue they should make the price of the game the same price as that last release.
But I thought game mods were intellectual property of the game maker since you usually have to use their code to make the mod to begin with and that mod will only work on that game in question.
Well if they can't get the X Superbox out then maybe we will see what they have plans to do next?
It's because they can’t sell any thing with copyright designs eg a mod that has StarWars ship in it.
Well if they can't get the X Superbox out then maybe we will see what they have plans to do next?
I believe it'll be out within the next 4 patches 😉 (4 patches....boy, that's a lot! 🙄 )

Or maybe even sooner 🙂
Well if you want to bore youself with the x boxset it’s out on the 8 October no mention of a date for the US. Good new for the 3 people who live in Benlux as it out there as well. 😆
I do admire Egosoft's dedication to their IP. All the titles in the Superbox will be able to play on WinXP, Vista and Win7. That is a accomplishment all in itself if the games run flawlessly in Win7. But The 300 page encyclopaedia is a great resource as well if it covers the span of all the games and its history.
For me this pack would be amazing really if they game a face lift to the gfx in all the games before X3TC. I wonder if the Superbox will ship with X3TC with patch 2.8-2.9?
Pinback I know you will be in line come Oct 8th 🙂
Yes I had a look too, here is a feature list taken from the Egosoft site of the X Superbox, a bit expensive though in my view considering alot of the extra content is community developed, $51.26 or £32.75

N00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 I wait till I see it in the shops 😆
$50 is a fair price for five games. There is definitely hours and hours of game play in the box. And looks like that description answered my question on X3TC. It will have patch 3.0. Egosoft didn't extend their patch time table out further than 3.0 so will be interested to see what comes after the SuperBox?
But this would be a good purchase just to have them all in one box and updated to run on all the OS's. Probably within 6mos you could pick it up under $40.
So are you getting your pre-order in Pinback? 😀
N00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 I wait till I see it in the shops 😆
😆 😆 Yea think I will wait too 😕 Yea, right I can't even say that with a straight face! 😆
Well it out,I had a look and put back on the shelf,may get it tomorrow. 😆 😆
You had to say that didn't you Pinback! 😆 Oh well, ordered it on Amazon, price £30.00 😳

My copy is coming. 😀 😀 😀
Here is the official trailer for the Superbox was released today .... but not in the USA 🙁
My copy is coming. 😀 😀 😀
Secret fanboy eh 😆
£35 in Game.
So what you get is 2 DVD with the updated games on and a bonus DVD which contains artwork,guides,tools,music some of it from egosoft and some from the fanboys also seem to be a number of links to the net.You also get an Xencyclopedia which is loose leaf affair held together by two metal pins which you have to self assemble (the cheapskate's 😆 ) means you cant have it open flat.It also says on the box that it contains hint to upcoming games.(more bloody X rubbish) 😆 and last of all a double sided poster.(should have had a map X universe on one side of it 🙄 )
Just had a look on steam and guess what the price is.....£35.00 RIP OFF 👿
Well, get it from Amazon then Pinback, the £30.00 I paid included the postage, and yes I know it's not Elite, but what to do while we wait for Elite IV? Call it a stop gap until the real thing arrives. 😆
Bought it this morning from Game,I was just checking to see how much the digital version was and was very surprised to see it’s the same price as the physical version of the game.
That is one of my personal hates, why should a download cost the same as a retail? It should be a lot cheaper to download a game in my view since you don't have to pay for any physical media.
Looks like Steams not the cheapest for games.I really expected it to be about £25 never thought they would be trying to sell it for the same price as the box game.
Wonder when the first patch will be out . 😆
I will by this next year sometime since I doubt that Egosoft is going to continue this series and will probably start on something else very soon if not already. I think picking this up for under $30 will be a good deal. Maybe Xmas time I might be able to get it cheaper and I will only buy the boxed version.
I've already got all these, but it cost me a hell of a lot more than 30 quid 🙄
X:btf is the best when you consider how old it is. And the addon to it was pretty cool, but thats like x2 and x3 really.
