To all SSC Station occupants
Thank you for the donations over the past year (2024), it is much appreciated. I am still trying to figure out how to migrate the forums to another community software (probably phpbb) but in the meantime I have updated the forum software to the latest version. SSC has been around a while so their is some very long time members here still using the site, thanks for making SSC home and sorry I haven't been as vocal as I should be in the forums I will try to improve my posting frequency.
Thank you again to all of the members that do take the time to donate a little, it helps keep this station functioning on the outer reaches of space.

Looks like they might be starting to gear up for the release of the game.
Thank you sire
I have to admit that the cockpit view looks nice.
I really do want to complete my first X game Pinback and maybe, just maybe this new one will be the one 🙂
Same here I have had a go at all of them but never got anywhere with them.
Here is another video guys,Thanks PINBACK for posting the other video,s here, didnt get round to it

Nice to see some more about the games.
Can't see any subtitles on the top vid, guy on the bottom vid seems very reluctant to say anything about the spec required to run the game.
Try turning caption on on youtube,it works for me
Here is another vid, which shows some gameplay and cockpit view
Tutti frutti background, don't like having just one half of the cockpit showing although no doubt their will be multi monitor or VR support.
Maybe that is for your co-pilot? I think they have been doing a nice job on the cockpit views and hope they continue to improve them and make them useful.
I can't be the only person who prefers a minimalistic HUD over a fancy cockpit view? All that stuff obscures the view of stuff that's actually important (I hate flying big ships in X3 for that reason).
Privateer was the worst for that.
I like the option for both FStyle, on occasion I like the fancy cockpit view for when I am cruising around doing whatever. But when it comes to HUD I like minimal distractions for combat so the less intrusive the better.
Short vid of one the station.

And this one, it's in German and apparently you can turn on subtitles on Youtube but they did not work for me.

They're showcasing a space station and the music was like a protaganist dying after a final battle or something.
Nice my interest in X rebirth has just gone up especially the last few minutes where get to see some walking about the station.
Looks good apart from the general lack of angular momentum which results in annoyingly clunky movement when turning. The following video shows how it should be done properly - not just angular momentum, but the whole lot regarding physics, mass or simply put, the way your ships responds. You can almost it feel dance around you and that allows you to dance (if you know what I mean), which is incredibly fun and challenging in IW2 as well as a bunch of other games with good implementation of (semi-) Newtionian physics and finely tuned mass values.

Back on topic, they released another video. This one actually sort of made me ... let's cut to the chase, MIND = BLOWN.

And then there's this trailer. Egosoft need to become more picky about the voice actors they hire asap.

Agree 😎 never was a fan of the old X games but this just the sort of stuff I have been looking for in a game for years, I just hope they have not buggered it by leaving that annoying crawl around the cube to see whats their as in the other games.
One thing the X games have always done well is size and scale and it's some thing Frontier should be taking notice off.
Me is also not a fan of the old X games - imo they managed to get the negatives of both space and management together... even gazillionere was better.
Would love to see a space game that "simulates" a detailed living world/space that doesnt revolve only around the player (i guess iam spoiled by spacerangers2)
i also like those cockpits - maybe there is some customizing garage where you can pimp your flight errr.. get a custom cockpit.
Hope they will go retail with a dvd in a box in europe.
=o
An actual release date!
My mind lumped this in the vaporware category awhile ago. With an actual release date, I think it is time to take it out of that pile and start looking into it again!

I would imagine that any new cockpits will be one of the first thing looked at by the mod community.
Their publisher is Deep Silver http://www.deepsilver.com/news/newsdetails/article/release-date-for-x-rebirth/
Thanks for posting this in the chat Pinback and reposting it here. If this video doesn't get you to want to give X-Rebirth a try nothing will 🙂
It was actually Shea and Diablotigersix who posted the videos :good:
First time I have been excited about an X game since the hype with X3 just hope that I am not going to be disappointed with it and it's not a bugged release as in the case of X3 was.
Just looking at the control video again and wondering if they maybe have gone a bit too far with the FPS style control?.
It is very funny when he starts going "But the coolest thing is..." (as a result, viewers start paying more attention to what he is going to say), he then names some in-game content and continues "... are real". He looks a bit nuts for a moment
I know that speaking in a foreign language on the fly and under a great deal of pressure isn't easy, but at least he should've given it a second try and say something "simulated like in real life", "have a functional purpose" instead. Damn, they must be busy with the game.
That aside, there are some serious concerns. The 1 ship problem has already been discussed to death so I'll leave that alone, but I'm worried about the removal of weapon slot system and replacing it with only 1 primary/secondary slot. Seriously, what kind of space sim is that? It looks like they're trying to cater to CoD players by dumbing the game down way too much.
The second potential issue is travelling/exploring which is the essence of an open-world space sim to me and whether it is done properly is a biggie to me. I'm afraid there is the gameplay outsite space cities is going to revolve around nothing else but highway travelling. Can you imagine how horrible that would be? It is absolutely vital that there put some content to explore spread between space cities (planets you can fly around, nebulas, hidden small stations, abandoned stations, large asteroid fields, etc.). In Freelancer for example, although there was practically nothing to do after you finished the story mode, it had a good balance between highway and normal travelling. I liked that outside civilized worlds, there were no highways at all and that gave them a completely different character. If X:R doesn't strike the same balance, I'm sure that wandering around those space cities will get tedius pretty soon.
