RE: Base building or Mothership?
<r>I'd go for something different myself: a modular mobile structure (is it a ship ? a structure ? a bird ? a plane?). It is modular, in that the parts can aggregate to produce stuff, but each part is also independent and mobile, so that it can separate from the other parts and go do stuff on it own ...

RE: One thousand starships, my starship and SF design blog
<r>Looks a lot like a Chris Foss style of ship <E></E> Hahaha yes Pinback, I love this guy -this ship owes indeed a lot to Mister's Foss designs (ah, all my youth, him and others like Peter Elson). The hommage does not go un-named though (From the blog entry "The type 56 'Chris Foss' block 22 ...

RE: UI Work and Volcanic Planets
<t>[...]. Yeah the ships really do need replacing but it's going to cost quite a bit to get that all sorted. [...] If you want to save yourself time and money at a small cost, ask your ship designers to build models sharing the same texture. With a couple of textures (say two camouflages or one ...

RE: UI Work and Volcanic Planets
<r>[...]On the big ships, the weapons are placed in such a way that something will always be able to fire. The smaller ships the player will be spending a fair amount of time making sure the ships are positioned right to maximise use of those turrets. Or you could tick the 'Auto-engage' box and the ...

RE: UI Work and Volcanic Planets
<r>Hello James, Great looking interface and planets ! It's hard to strike a balance between intrusion and clarity for the screen windows. I really love the general feeling, the scale and depth (that is now unobstructed by the windows). Also good to see some new ship models about to come into the ...

RE: Aliens: Colonial Marines
<t>Yes indeed Pinback. It's been a while since I read such a bad review for a supposed AAA game. But that was easy to guess, right ? I mean, which games stay in development for six bloody years without being a total piece of dung on arrival ? It's a pity, because Alien is still to me THE archetypal ...

<t>Hey guys thank you Pyros, MPL3D and dark one ! I am very glad you like the designs, more are on the way. What would you say, though: should I post more about spaceships or try to keep a diversity (mechs, aliens and stuff) ? P. PS: Pyros, yes, you have a point, the design of the Korolev is a bit ...

RE: Models giveaway
<t>Hey Sol ! I like your vessel: it smells of funky functionality. My mind paints the model with all sorts of systems when I look at it: sensors, passive and active defense systems, projectors, lasers and radiators. I particularly like the radiators (?) covers. To my humble opinion, the weak spot on ...

RE: One thousand starships, my starship and SF design blog
Thank you Pinback ! well, I was thinking that the Korolev was pretty much a civilian design: I have trouble picturing it fighting between the stars. I planned on using it around space stations and such, on automatic transits -that is, plain traffic.

<t>Thanks a lot Sol,Glad to see you like it. Are you working on a game yourself, now ? (project, prototype or else?)I always wanted to do a master-of-orion style boardgame !Its so full of images everywhere (game cards, ships, planets) that it is quite a pain to do. Believe it or not, for me the ...
