Just downloaded it a few days ago and had a binge of it yesterday. It's a very fun game!

Eterium
<t>Eterium is an indie space sim along the lines of Wing Commander. It is being developed in XNA and will be on X-Box 360 and PC when it is done. The graphics and gameplay look amazing! I'm not sure if this is going to be free when it is released, but I think (and hope) that it will be!You can find ...

RE: Remember Strike Commander
<t>I never played the game, but I saw some videos of it. I liked how they took the F-16 and mixed it with Wing Commander, but when it came to flight sims, I always preferred realism to storyline.I was a big fan of Falcon 3.0 when I was a kid, and I also played a bit of a game called ATAC, which ...

RE: New XCOM game... your thoughts
This isn't X-Com at all; it's most mindless FPS crap for all of the new FPS fanboys (no offense, I enjoy some FPS, but IMO the genre is becoming nothing but a bunch of stale clones, that and X-Com is supposed to be about strategy!). I'll stick to UFO: AI (can't wait for 2.4 stable!).

RE: Is science fiction dying?
<t>I think that sci-fi will always have its fan-base, but for now, it seems as if the embers have grown a bit cold (to an extent in gaming as well, but certainly on TV).Personally, I'm going back and watching Babylon 5. it was on TV when I was young, so I didn't really understand the storyline (I ...

WC1 can be run on DOSBox. I still have my old CDs for WC1 and 2. I play them from time to time on DOSBox.WC1, 2, and 3 were released together for Windows 95 as the Kilrathi Saga too. You might be able to get it to run on XP, not sure about Vista or 7.

RE: Suggestions For Game?
I'd go with FreeSpace 2. The Open Source project makes the graphics absolutely beautiful, and there are tons of mods and additional campaigns that prop up the games epicness after all of these years. It's an awesome game in its own right too.

RE: Need a programmer and modeller for game.
<t>This is actually a very large project (or has the potential to be quite large). I think that it would require a lot of development.I agree that a design document should be thought out and put down for potential developers to see.I can't work on it right now since I have a ton of projects of my ...

I'm a fan of the Supermarine Spitfire, and the scene looks pretty cool. Not sure how it's supposed to work though.

RE: Joystick or Mouse.......... Preferences???
Joystick all the way for me. I prefer to use the joystick in all flight games and in FPS. The mouse might be useful for turrets (the same way I use the mouse for mouselook in FPS; I use the joystick to replace WASD and many of the other buttons) and certain portions of the interface, however.

RE: Wing Commander Standoff, Anything Played This???
<t>Yeah. WC: Standoff is awesome. I beat it last summer. Some of the missions are outright difficult and borderline impossible. I had to replay many of the missions. I beat the mission that you're talking about flying in the Rapier. I do think that they throw waaay too many fighters at you. It's not ...

RE: Is the pc dead
I'm more of a fan of boxed products too. Downloads mean that you could lose everything in the event of a hard drive crash, and depending on how the system works, you might have to pay again. If you have a boxed product, at least you have a backup on hand for certain.

RE: Is the pc dead
<t>I agree with KageMusha. The PC is far from dead. In fact, I believe that PC games inspire far more creativity. Gamers in general, are consumers. PC gamers, however, have a greater potential to get into modding or design themselves while pure console gaming generally does not allow room for ...

RE: UN Gun grab?
<t>Without the ability to defend ourselves, we are nothing but slaves.I am absolutely pro gun. I'm realistic to say that you'll always have your loonies, sadly, but a responsible armed populace can respond to the loonies if they have armament of their own. The loonies, in theory, will always get ...

I liked WC2 because I prefer the ships of that era. It is for this reason that I also enjoyed Standoff.

I've read a lot about Detroit. Some students just don't want to learn/ might just be incapable of learning. There have been many articles on this subject, that lean a bit towards the politically incorrect side...
