RE: Star Trek Armada 3 (SOASE:Rebellion Mod)

<t>Hi all. I was introduced to this mod a week ago and, Star Trek gaming nut that I am, have been playing it pretty much non-stop since!i think I've played enough now to give a few impressions. Before I explain my thoughts, though, a little history...Armada 3 is, of course, the mod-maker's vision of ...

RE: X-Rebirth 2.0 thoughts and reviews

<t>Damn.I've been waiting for Elite:Dangerous and/or Limit theory to surface. Based on X-Still-Birth's terrible reviews at launch I was going to give it one a miss completely buuuuut........those videos look kinda tasty. RE: Star Trek Excalibur

It's a beautiful thing right enough. I've played with the engine demo many times. But DEAR GOD it's taking forever and a day to develop! Chances of seeing a game out of this by 2016? Low.

RE: Nightly builds

<t>Fantastic work, gentlemans! This build already feels like a vast improvement over 11! I love the throbbing population markers in the system view, although I agree with comments above about it being a different, less bold colour. Do we have distinct empires in the game yet? Will the throbbers be ...

RE: What's next from Egosoft?

<t>So after all the wondering, postulation and dreaming...Egosoft are going right back to what they've always done: another iterative update to a game series that reduces the wonder of space to a tedious business simulator with pretty backgrounds and glacial pacing. :(I understand that they're ...

RE: Alpha 9 released

Ok, setting it to Win XP compatibility mode helped. The game has become playable. However, I don't think the shaders are working. I can't see any of the atmospheric effects or any of the shiny surfaces on ships. A step forwards, though. :)

RE: New radar mapper/hyperspace analyzer HUD

<r>One of the lovely things about Pioneer is it's willingness to acknowledge when Frontier was a bit lacking or outdated, and improve upon it. I see this little tweak very much in that mindset, and as such should be applauded. Anything that raises the chances of the pilot's survival; we shouldn't be ...
