RE: What's next from Egosoft?
<t>Going by the video, and the marketing blurbs about fast travel, I suspect it will just be more of he same but perhaps without actual gates joining sectors. Rather those lanes of traffic like you see in the SW movies. Plus, am I the only one who thinks the game is way too colourful? But my biggest ...

Anyone else have a problem with the roll keys? When holding down right mouse to control attitude you cannot roll. You can do this in Alpha 8 though.

RE: New to the X3 Reunion Game and Having Trouble Trading
<t>I haven't played the game in ages, but it's amazing once you establish a means to make easy money how quickly things escalate, especially when you get many Universal Traders online.Combat for me was always where the big money came from. I did one combat mission in TC flying an Osaka M2 and made ...

<t>Any genetic research can lead you to serious morality issues.Imagine doctors find a way to identify what causes Alzheimers, which could be treated early on in pregnancy with gene therapy. Now imagine they could identify whether your child would be homosexual. Or how tall necrotic be. Or how long ...

That does make sense except most ships are likely to have shields fitted.

Amazing! If this were a commercial product you lot would all be moaning about the adverts and yet you now want more of them!

Except with consoles you have to make do with a fairly ancient graphics card. Although recent PS3 releases sometimes impress, gameplay wise they tend to be shallow affairs.

<t>If you imagine what the world was like before the Romans gave us roads, there would have been isolated settlements dotted about with nothing linking them.Flash forward 3000 years and we have the same thing, except with skyscrapers! But would it be possible to create some random links between ...

If it followed the trend then this game would be smaller than Oblivion but more detailed. After many sequels the game would be set entirely within a broom cupboard, but the detail would be incredible!

Oh, I never suggested they were hidden. What I mean is that not every shuttle launch was on the level about it's cargo. Many launches of other vehicles just wouldn't attract that much press attention anyway. They could be sending anything up there and we would be none the wiser.

<t>I suspect it will be over hyped like "Paranormal Activity" and "Skyline".A clever director could probably do a lot with a film set almost entirely within the confines of the lunar lander. But from the shaky cam footage the premise seems to be like that of "The Blair Witch Project" where the film ...

Unless of course we assume that thruster design and performance is so advanced that aerodynamics are obsolete. Why bother giving a ship control surfaces when you can make a brick hover with ease!

Shouldn't it be possible to land on some high gravity worlds and not be able to take off again?I guess you could ask how you were able to control your descent and not make a crater in the first place but still.

<t>Different levels of hyperdrive failure could be interesting and the longer you go without having the drive serviced would increase the chances of it happening before it ultimately dies completely.Symptoms of failure such as:Mis-jumps, where you drop out in inter-stellar space between systems ...

<r>I remember one mission in particular where you had to power into this narrow trench and then kill your engines and switch off any active sonar. This trench was filled with torpedo turrets and you could drift past unnoticed that way. What made it even more tense was that with everything rigged for ...

<t>Loved the original, Archimedean Dynasty, hated the sequels. They dumbed it down, removing tactical elements such as how much noise your craft makes, and choosing passive and active sonar systems, and turned it into a mindless shooter.I don't remember exactly, but I suspect this was another series ...

As I have stated on the Egosoft forums before my gut feeling is that their next project will be multi platform. If so it doesn't bode well in my book.

Each eye is going to be subtly different. If you simply invert one you mat be heading into uncanny valley.Have a look at some celebrity mirrored faces on the net. It's difficult to put your finger on but there is something not quite right about them.
